While on a work trip in Statesboro, I decided to give this spot a try due to it being black owned and good reviews. Well my experience was a total let down.
The Service. Poor. No one looked like they wanted to be at work. No one knew what was going on. I sat for 25 mins before I got my food which wasnt hot when it did arrive. I ordered the fish dinner with greens and yams and a side of shrimp. While eating this young lady let me know I needed to pay. So she wanted me to stop eating get up and pay. Which I complied but I was annoyed at this point. I mean I sat for damn near 30 mins and no one said anything about paying. Most dine in restaurants you pay after the meal but whatever. It was rude of her to request I pay in the middle of meal after their mistake. My shrimp came another 20 mins after the fish that I had to continue to ask about. Mind you it isn’t even busy in here. Then I asked about the cornbread that came with my meal and everything is I forgot or we dont know.
The food: meh nothing to write home about. It didnt taste fresh at all. Not seasoned at all and the tea tasted like it was sour or something idk. I will not return. If you are thinking about coming dont. I left this place hungry what a...
Read moreWell I can’t comment on the atmosphere inside yet because the doors have not opened. But they have a walk up window and they very much welcomed me. I was so happy to find a place in Statesboro that opened up that was different than all of our regular chicken places. Lately every time I turn around, there’s a new chicken place opening up. I ordered a fish dinner to go, as well as fish and chips for my husband and I. Wow, wow, wow were the portions in each meal impressive!! We will get 2 meals out of each definitely. And I was so satisfied with the flavor of my lightly fried whiting, collard greens and Mac and cheese. Everyone behind the scenes were friendly and formidable. I found out grandma Antionette is cooking, her daughters are serving up and grandchildren are cleaning up:) God bless this wonderful addition to our community!! Now I know why it is called soul food… because it IS well...
Read moreOMG!!! RUN!!!! I love to support black owned businesses, but I will not return unfortunately. I arrived around 6pm. The prices are unnecessarily expensive for the area it’s located in. For $20, I am fuming!!!! I ordered the fish dinner. My sides I desired, was unavailable. So, I chose, potato salad or mash potato salad and Mac-n-chs ( tastes like it was cooked days ago). They brought me my food and the fishy scent almost took me out!!! The cornbread was so old, it just crumbled like sand. They had no to-go-bags for the dinner and the bag that my cornbread in was all ripped like it came from under the sink. Even though the served me 1,110 pieces of fish, it was sitting in the preservatives all day. It was sooooooo greasy, till it was a lil lake of grease in bottom of the box, due to the “cooked to...
