I wanted to give this place a good review so bad because it’s local but that was the opposite of our experience. First of all the waitress was training another girl (which I totally understand as I have worked in food service, but when as many things have gone wrong with TWO people serving the table as did there is a major problem.) We told the waitress we needed a little time to figure out if we wanted to order a drink. She didn’t come back until 15 minutes later (really not a big deal but it escalated). We order a French 75 and an old fashioned. It takes almost 20 minutes to come out then we order an appetizer, it was your typical spinach and artichoke dip along with the drinks again, no big deal. We finish our crostinis and the waitress asks us if we want a refill on our bread for the dip and we say yes, why not? Well that was an up-charge (which was not mentioned) but honestly it was okay at this point. They come back about 10 minutes later and ask us we want to to order. My husband wanted the creole rigatoni. The waitress asked us if we wanted to sub the crawfish for steak or chicken and he said he wanted to sub it for steak!! Little did he know it was a $38 up-charge (It so happens that I am allergic to shellfish). Promptly after ordering our food the waitress asks if we would like another French 75 and Old fashioned. We say yes… Why not put the drink order in at the same time as our food, so we get it around the same time as the food comes out… Well we finished our food and still our drinks did not come. Finally, we say something to the other waitress named Jessica. Honestly, she seemed more equipped to train the girl our waitress was training but I digress. Our drinks came out about 5 minutes later almost 30 minutes after we initially ordered our drinks. When we get our bill we find out that the “substitution” my husband asked for on his creole pasta was an extra $38 dollars… Our waitress never mentioned a substitution would be this much on the protein. I could see $10-15 but not $38 EXTRA. We spent $176 on pasta and an APPETIZER with 2 drinks each. You might as well go to Circa 1875 for good French food in downtown Savannah. Don’t...
Read moreArrived at 2 PM on Thursday, July 27. Only had 3 people working the front of the house. One was waiting on all the customers, one was busy cleaning, getting ready to close, and the third gentleman was obviously knew because he was wandering around aimlessly. We placed our order- two chicken, parm sandwiches, a hamburger, and a Cuban. All of these were ordered with fries. The two chicken Parm sandwiches were completely cold. They were refrigerator cold. The Cuban was cold to the touch, not pressed like a traditional Cuban and all 3 served on stale bread. The only thing hot was the hamburger. All of the fries had been sitting because they to were barely warm. We told the waitress and she took the two chicken Parm‘s away in about two minutes later, brought them back to the table, and the only thing different was the bread on the outside was even harder than it was the first time and barely warm, but the chicken inside the sandwich was still cold. They took the same sandwiches that they pulled away from our table, and evidently just tried to throw them in the microwave . This was after each one of us it already taken a bite out of the sandwich. How do they get away with doing this when it’s been brought back to the table, do you even really know that you’re getting your sandwich that you ate off of back? They were still cold and we told her just to take them off the bill. Plate of fries were finally brought out when we were ready to go. This place is way too expensive to be serving this quality of food. It was poor it best. I think it’s poor customer service when you have people eating at your establishment to be spraying all the tables with cleaner all around them and sweeping and everything else if you close at 3 the. that’s when you should be doing your cleaning. There was another party of four leaving at the same time we were and they were also complaining that their food was not hot and fresh. Just another restaurant in Statesboro that doesn’t care what kind of food it serves its patrons. We...
Read moreI have yet to figure out how I have not been to this amazing little place before. My wife and I were absolutely amazed by the food, the simple atmosphere and super friendly staff. We learned that everything is made in house, all the sauces, the breads and desserts. We started with the She crab soup that had way more crab in it then you will find at most restaurants. The Jalapeño pepper pops were the kind that you always want and never seem to find. The peppers were large, filled with delicious cheese and a slab of bacon on top. I tried the Ahi tuna Florentine and was shocked at how well the flavors all worked together, the kimchi was flavorful but not overpowering, the tuna was prepared perfectly, and the sautéed spinach was the best spinach I have ever had in my life. My wife had the Caesar salad with all fresh lettuce and vegetables which she thoroughly enjoyed. For her entrée my wife selected the Fettuccine alfredo and she said that the sauce was very creamy and had great flavor. My selection was the Mediterranean pizza, all the vegetables were fresh and the chicken seasoned perfectly. At this point it was a very tough decision at which dessert to try...the plain cheesecake was the winner and we are so glad it was. Our waitress said that she could put caramel on top which she did and added a little kick with a slight sprinkle of salt on top. That cheesecake was the best I have ever had, it wasn't thick and it was super soft, it was creamy and had the best flavor. If you are in the area you have to stop by Sugar Magnolia, they have outside seating with plenty of fans blowing down on you and a full bar. The staff is super friendly plus they know the menu to offer good advise and there really is something for everyone. We will...
