Not very pleased. I walked in & no one says anything. Do I wait to be seated, seat myself? I mean, how do you know if you aren't a regular? I got tired of waiting so I sat myself. They were moving along with their day. No one said a word to me while standing there. Even after eye contact. After sitting, I noticed several who weren't greeted. Only a few. As if they were familiar. 1st stop sign ignored. I really should've left. Idc. At least acknowledge. 2nd stop sign ignored -Although I'm not French, I consider myself an egg Connoisseur. Texture is clearly a representation when it comes to eggs JMO. They're a staple in breakfast just like grits in the South. From smelt to Omurice to Tornado, I've been on an egg high. Presentation usually shows a lot about how a customer is viewed. Will they accept anything? Again, JMO. So when my omelet resembled a greasy hot pocket, I was sad. Thin in texture, like a sheet of legal paper. Waffle thick & spongy. By this point I was ignoring the 4th stop sign. The 2nd should've been when I inquired about a fish with breakfast option. Prepackaged salmon patties was a new one for me. Not caring to go there, I left off fish since there was only 1 other option or shrimp. My 1st waiter was nice, but I am guessing a shift change once my hot pocket arrived. My next waiter tossed my check on the table & kept walking. Tossed the card tray back to me so hard that it was heard on my phone call with the airline with all the background noise. Never got a refill on coffee, no one asked how the food was, probably on the avoid list when they saw me staring at it like what the? Even though the word TIP is an acronym. Not getting one doesn't really matter in places like those.. Probably how they determine who to speak to. I told the 1st waiter I wanted honey. The lady that brought my food brought syrup. Her apology? Nonchalant "Oh". With the caution light blinking, I spent the $14 to simply get out. My dogs that also love eggs, smelled it & turned away. Remained untouched til thrown away. My suggestion would be to say a very loud Good Morning as soon as you walk in. Like they do at DollarTree. Maybe they'll get it. If options, ingredients and processes don't really matter, I suppose it's...
Read moreWe went for breakfast on Saturday morning after moving our son into GSU. The good: The food and service were great. My wife said it was probably the best grits she ever had. The wait staff was hustling and they were incredibly friendly, despite the pretty horrible working conditions.
It was warm out so we wanted to eat inside in the air. While we were waiting in line at the front of the restaurant, we heard a water splat from the A/C vent above us. No big deal, although the ceiling and vents had definitely seen better days. We got seated in the back by the counter. Within a couple of minutes, another splat, this time a brown water drop from the a/c vent above us. We're not complainers, so we shuffled seats (there were 3 of us at a 4 top) to make sure it wouldn't end up hitting our food when it came. Then a couple of more drops, a little more shuffling and then we moved the table closer to the counter at the instruction of the waitress (who was so polite and super apologetic). The waitress said it can happen when it's warm out and it gets condensation. It's Statesboro, it's always hot :) We got our food and within a couple of minutes, the water hit my son's back and then eventually hit his plate of pancakes. Thankfully the party at the counter had gotten up so we moved to the counter and they made him a fresh stack of pancakes. It's clearly a very old building and it could use some serious renovation. 2 other families tried the table as well and had to eventually move.
Again, the cooks were great, the wait staff was as good as you could get, but we don't think we'd go back until they put some money into fixing...
Read moreWent to this place Sunday morning after moving our son into his dorm the day before. Went in and saw a 4 top table empty, and was asked if we could sit, the rude woman inside then asked if my family was “next” I told her she needed to come outside and check as we didn’t know who was next as there was no organization to the way people were to be seated. She said she didn’t believe me and said she was going on the honor system as if telling her to go outside and check I was trying to get one over on her. Are you kidding me, what kind of restaurant seats customers like this. Then 20 min later they sat us down, took our drink order and a few minutes later our food order. We sat there for an hour and nine minutes with no food. Everyone that sat after us had their order and was almost done eating. We asked how much longer and the same woman said there were 3 tickets ahead of us. She then proceeded to tell me that they were busy because of the move in weekend and “they couldn’t just turn out food in 15 minutes. I told her it would be different if it had only been 15 or 20 minutes, but we had been there over an hour. She then said “it’s been over an hour, well you know time flies when you are having fun”. At that point I told her I would pay for the drinks and we had to go. She sarcastically told the cook that we didn’t have time and we had to go. What a way to treat potential customers. Won’t be going back and will be telling all our college parents to avoid this place...
