We went on a Saturday, between 2 & 3pm, and the line was very long. But they prepare your ice cream, literally, by hand, so it is understandable that you may have to wait. It took us about 20 to 30 mins to get our ice cream. You pay for your ice cream 1st ($6.50 and up, per bowl), then an employee will take your bowl to their work station. The stations are these very large, silver, metal plate areas where they lay your topping choices and pour out your cream. The metal slabs are freezing cold and they use "scraper" tools to move and chop and mix your cream and toppings until it's been turned into ice cream! They "smear" it out, very flat. Then, using the edge of the "scraper", they'll push it under the thin layer of ice cream, towards you, creating a "roll". They'll use tongs to put your "rolls" in your bowl and take it to one final station. There's another board on the wall here and it has quite a list of additional toppings! You choose whatever else you'd like in your bowl, they assemble it on top and provide you with a spoon and napkins and you're good to go! I chose "Mint to be". It was flavored with 2 mint chocolate Oreo cookies. My husband chose "Have a Peanut Better Day". It was flavored with peanut butter sauce, a Nutter Butter cookie and brownie bites. The 1st couple bites were very "hard", because it was frozen stiff BUT it was absolutely delicious! We felt like it had been worth the wait! We will definitely go again. As far as I could tell, they have around 15 or so different toppings to create your ice cream with. They are extremely friendly! BUT, besides the wait, the only other thing that may surprise you is the noise...because there are 4 different metal slab work stations with 4 different employees hammering metal scraper tools onto a metal slab to chop and break up your toppings and create ice cream...and there's "today's" music playing loudly and it's a very small store so all the people talking and kids being kids ☺, it is a very loud experience. But again, the ice cream was very delicious, service was amazingly friendly (and fast as could be done). We...
Read moreThis place is my bliss! I can walk in after a bad day, and these folks make a happy chatty chick outta me soon as I cross that threshold. I literally have to ration out a cup of this stuff over a couple days to keep myself from going every day. There is no ice cream base as rich and buttery as theirs; and their flavor recipes are off the chain! The coffee one, with a shot of espresso and biscoff cookies chopped in, will make your toes curl! The owners are a very sweet couple, and the wifey (Meghan), is ALWAYS there working! Literally! ...sun up to WAY after sun down, and they are open every day BUT Mondays, until 9 I think it is. I did not know these people until my first visit, and they have managed to make me feel like I'm walking into my own personal VIP party, every time I walk through that door. If you EVER hear any negative comment about this place, I'm certain there is more to the story, because these people are straight goodness to their core...and very hard workers! I'm pretty sure I am their most frequent customer, so my experience with this business is based on a gazillion visits. I LOVE my new...
Read moreFriendly service, but for anyone who has a sensory disorder, you might want to steer clear. The process for making this ice cream includes loud banging and scraping, sounds over which the people working there try to make conversation. It is stressful, because you can hardly hear them and they can hardly hear you, especially if you choose to wear a mask. You end up having to pull down your mask if you want any chance of avoiding the workers asking you 3x to repeat what you said, despite the fact that you are shouting as loudly as possible. An awkward social interaction ensues, and by the end you just hope to make it out without hearing damage, a headache, and/or social anxiety & embarrassment.
Also, the dairy-free ice cream tastes like corn syrup. I'm glad they offer it, but it lacks good taste. Regular dairy-free ice cream scoops are much creamier and richer tasting. They have a lot of vegan toppings, though, and toppings are unlimited! This was a nice consolation for...
