My husband and I took our daughter to dinner at this establishment last night. The food was good. The waitress we had was great and stayed on top of our drinks/food. We have always been a family that stacks the plates/cups for easy table cleanup and we always tip our waiters/waitresses great when they do a good job. We received our check and my husband paid, including a $46 tip for the waitress. The manager of this establishment comes over to our table and asks if we have another form of payment. My husband had paid cash money. The manager told us they held the bills up to the light and couldn’t tell if they were real or not. The $100 bills were older, so we asked her if they had a counterfeit detection pen and were told no. She also then told us that company policy did not allow them to take older bills. My husband to keep from causing a scene provided her with other bills which she happily took. We have NEVER been treated like this in any other establishment. We have never been told that a company had a policy to not accept older bills, because after all, it is money and they need to be paid. Some people work hard for their money, no matter the age of it, and if the banks can still hand it out, then surely establishments should surely accept it. My husband was in a company t-shirt during this dinner as well, when we were accused of spending counterfeit money. The big question should have been what if we hadn’t had another form of payment? Would the money have been taken? Would the cops have been called? We definitely would have been happy to wait around for them to get there considering we were guilty of nothing other than trying to have a nice dinner out. But seriously what would have happened if that had been all we had? How can a company turn down money that banks provide us with and how does an establishment treat people in this manner? I will never again enter another Longhorn establishment after being done this way and I will make sure I let everyone know how this company treats hard...
Read moreLonghorn's has been my go-to restaurant in Statesboro for many, many years and I've even given them a very good Google review, but now I'm reconsidering whether I'll ever go back. I love one of their signature drinks, the Longhorn Old Fashioned. It's made with an excellent bourbon called Knob Creek Small Batch that is 9 years old and is priced at over $10 a drink. Three times in the last year I have ordered the drink and when it arrived, it looked and tasted differently than it should. Each time that I inquired, including tonight, I was told that they were out of Knob Creek and instead used some other bourbon/whiskey (usually Jim Beam or Jack Daniels). The problem is that I'm paying for a top shelf bourbon and the bartender is purposely replacing it with a middle/bottom shelf liquor, but the higher price is still being charged. Sounds like a great way for the store/bartender to increase profits. Tonight I had enough of this practice and asked for a manager. One came to my table and after explaining the problem he was very apologetic. He told me that Knob Creek was their signature bourbon and they have been out of it for some time. He said that it was not their practice to substitute an inferior liquor for the superior price. I asked him if I was the only customer who has ordered the Longhorn Old Fashioned today and he said no. I said that if they have put Jim Beam in all those top tiered drinks then it was the store's practice to deceive their customers. There was no resolution from the manager. Customers beware, if you think that you are drinking top shelf liquor at Longhorn's, you may not be. But you will be charged the higher price and never be told about it. This is a deceptive practice by this store and shame on the managers for knowingly allowing...
Read moreI've been to this location multiple times and have had expected dining experiences. However within the last several years this place took a nose dive to the crapper.
I've tried eating there several times within the last year always leaving mad at myself for knowing better.
Service: Its consistently worse each visit. Ranging from waiters and waitresses who cant even manage a smile to down right belligerence.
Tonight 8/1/18 my wife talked me into going despite my protest.
Food: We both ordered a sirloin with baked potato and cotc. The steak was cold, hard, and fatty, and inconsistently cooked throughout. The corn on the cob was inedible, hard as a rock and cold as well. And out potato.. it looked deflated, as if someone squeezed it to a jumbled nothing.
Service: We were seated immediately in an odd corner both I suspect is for a wheel chair. We sat for about 10 to 15 minutes when our waitress finally arrived. Apologizing to us because she didn't see us "hidden in the corner".
We then asked if they give a military discount and she said, "yes." I handed her my ID where she stood staring at it flipping it front to back before asking.. "what am I doing again?"
I actually became worried at this point. I told her for my discount.
We ordered our food. Considering the moderate amount of diners, it took a little longer than expected.
She was not around to refill drinks, so we finally asked if shed just leave a pitcher for us. She told us no, and my drink was only refilled once the entire time we were there.
Never again Longhorn statesboro. This place is so bad I cannot muster to even go to one in another town.
I truly hope it ends up the way...
