December 13, 2024 - Looking for “ Stepped Up” Mexico food . . . Chef Justin streamlined the choices to Tacos & Burritos with FIXINS !
It’s a small restaurant with 7 to 10 tables lined up under a giant mural of a lovely Senorita on the wall! You can see the tight kitchen area, but the cooks work quickly to provide fast service.
My wife and I ordered chips & salsa at the counter, with Katie (delightful & helpful). Then sat down to look over the menu, no rush at 4 pm , an early dinner for us. Then Josie , another server, brought over our Negro Modelo beers. No other diners, we learned from Katie & Josie that Chef Justin has 2 locations ( Staunton & North Chesterfield) of Chicano Boy Restaurants.
Katie popped over with a small free sample of Green Salsa ! ( Thank you 😃👍🏼) My wife ordered 3 Tacos . . . Americano style, Beef , and Chicken ! I ordered the Burrito with Pork! Again, not many people in the restaurant at 4:30 pm now. Josie came over to check on us, as she cleared some of our glasses , plates . . . We shared our experiences in meeting Chef Justin at Pizza Luca ! ( Chef Justin owns both establishments!)
Our meal is delivered, looks great , especially the art-like appearance of the Tacos! ( check photo) 😃. My wife loved both the Americano & Chicken tacos! ( Had to take the 3rd taco home, too full) Wow, my Burrito was the best I ever tried! I added red salsa with medium heat, perfectly on top for a Zesty Zing! 😃👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
As we approached 5 pm, folks started lining up at the front counter, with Josie ! Katie asked about trying their homemade chocolate cake, but we said , “ We’re full” , but my wife loves chocolate cake. As our table was cleared, and folks filled the tables around us, Katie shows up with our bill and a take home container of their Chocolate Cake ( free)! 😃👍🏼❤️
What a nice Mexican meal, and great service at The Chicano Boy in Staunton!
BTW . . . As we watched a Christmas movie at home, we shared that moist, delicious chocolate cake ! Another winner for Chef Justin ! Thank you, Katie & Josie 😃👍🏼 you both work very well together!
Suggestion: Someday, if Chef Justin opens a top tier Spanish Restaurant that serves elegant Spanish dishes for those special full meal occasions . . . Like Anniversaries, Holidays, Class Reunions , Promotions, and other Celebrations. . . please let me know!
Hard to find a top tier...

Finally was able to make it back. Got the taco special for lunch. The shrimp tacos are as good as I remembered. The orange salsa is a lot hotter than i remembered! Still good though. Good service. Upped my rating with this latest experience.
Update:
So, even though my name is in no way tied to the passenger, Chicano Boy reached out to said passenger and apologized about the service. I feel like changing the rating based on the response would not be right, but I’ll make it a goal to update this rating every time I visit the restaurant.
To add to my overall lifetime experience: The shrimp tacos are some of the best I’ve ever had Chips & queso are definitely worth trying Again, taters are always good
The below experience still stands as the time-stamps are pretty accurate.
First ever google review. I’m glad Chicano Boy is doing well during this time. Food was great, but the waiting time was very unsatisfactory. Here was my experience.
Passenger enters order for bowl at 6:40PM. Estimated completion 7:05PM. I enter order for bowl at 6:42. Estimated completion 7:30. No big deal about time pickup difference, but here’s how it played out.
7:00 - Get to parking lot for pickup 7:30 - My food is ready. Passenger’s food nowhere in sight. 7:45 - Passenger calls in. Employee looking into the situation. 7:55 - Passenger checks phone. Order marked “complete.” 8:00 - Passenger calls in again. Employee comes out to get order number. Order never made it to kitchen. Making food for first time. 8:20 - Passenger’s food delivered
Passenger had to wait for nearly an hour and a half in the parking lot AFTER estimated completion time. I'd recommend text updates for order entry, preparation, and completion.

Read moreThe food is very good here. However, the Justine guy (who seems to be the owner), lacks the most basic customer service skills or very racist. I have seen the treatment he gives to the white customers "Here you go sir/madam", "you have a great day", "See you soon". Meanwhile, every single time I'm there, he gives me the nastiest look.
Again, their food is very tasty to me but unortunately there is not a lot of other options in this area and I didn't want to let one employee ruin my day. That's why even though I hated being looked down upon, I still went there a few other times.
Now that I'm moving out or Virginia, I decided to to remove the well deserved 1 star and just be a kinder human being than he seems to be.
I can't believe that I just received a Facebook message from that Justine guy. Note, I never know that guy, not a Facebook friend, absolutely not relations, and didn't even know his name, NOR I have anything personal with that guy. Just for a customer review, that Justine guy searches and find my private account on Facebook and messaged me, literally threatening me with police and etc if I dont remove my review! Can you believe that?! This pretty much proves his racist mind. I would never write a negative review if someone or a business if they had a tiny bit of decency. I dont even feel close to a...
