It was ok, however not up to the same standards as the locations in Tulsa it seems. Everyone else at my table did get good food. It was only mine that was lacking. All I will say is, order anything other than the chicken fried steak meal.... The gravy was extremely watered down and thin and did not even cover the steak, it looked like it had milky water poured over it. The steak was soggy and not even a little crisp in places, it wasn't even hot just warm and I never got the cole slaw that was supposed to come with it... That aside, the people that ordered the burgers enjoyed them, my father said the polish sausage special was good although the noodles were a bit overcooked by a min or two making them a bit mushy. However, their one saving grace for me was the fries... they were on point and exactly how we remembered them. The only reason I am even giving 3 stars is because everyone else got good food, and for the fries of course. However the meal I ordered I would rate a complete 0. I will try them again but I will definitely never order the chicken fried steak again. A complete waste of $10. All of that said, definitely give them a try. Give them a chance to get better in the areas that need serious improvement. If all else fails stick to trying the burgers and chili... You can't go wrong there. I really, really hate leaving a semi bad review as I was really looking forward to eating here again and I hope I can change it later on to a...
Read moreWhen I'm craving a burger and I don't want to cook myself I'm always racking my brain through the places that sell burgers here in Stillwater. There's a few go-to places that the burgers are decent and feed the craving but Ron's has some good burgers.
They are set up diner style and they have a decently large selection of different burgers with different toppings to choose from. They give each burger some kind of a special name and you definitely need to read the menu of some options aren't your normal burger options.
I like the sausage burger which is made with half sausage and half hamburger. The burger itself is just huge and almost hard to finish. The last couple bites take a bit to get down but you got to keep going cuz you're almost done with the burger. There's a lot of other tasty looking burgers on there that I have yet to try, so I'll have to go back some other days.
We had fried pickles on this visit and they were cooked perfectly. The batter here is a little bit thick and tastes similar to something that might be on chicken or a fish fry and the pickles have a good thickness so it creates a good fried pickle texture.
I would recommend this place if you like your burgers a little bit more on the diner side, lots of creativity, and freshly made. Not only does it taste good but it seems to still be pretty affordable especially when prices around us have gone...
Read moreCold untoasted bun, imitation cheese product and super thin hamburger patties with very little taste aside from salt (and I like a lot of salt). Even a little grease for some flavor might have been an improvement. Reasonably priced, but just a small step up from McDonalds; even Sonic has a better tasting burger. The Big Daddy 1/2lb burger has a patty that is about as thick as a thin pizza crust, which makes it look large in the pictures, as it protrudes from the bun. This is a horrible thing to do to a piece of meat, although I'm sure it cooks fast and the meal did come out quickly. The chicken fried steak was reminiscent of high school cafeteria fare and was definitely nothing that I would even remotely ever consider ordering again. The fries smelled fantastic, but I can't eat them anymore, so I didn't try them (my wife said they were a bit burnt and overly crispy, but they didn't look terrible).
The facility itself was clean and the service was good. My drink was refilled several times (I was filling myself up on Mountain Dew instead of the food, most of which came home in to go boxes and which will probably end up augmenting my dogs' diets).
It is far from the worst place I've eaten and, again, the prices aren't terrible, but I really can't imagine a circumstance that would...
