Mi Bistro — Restaurant in Stockton

I really wanted to like this place and even gave it a second chance, but unfortunately, both visits were disappointing.

Service: The workers were inattentive, casual, and not helpful. Service was slow, and at one point, they completely walked away, leaving our order on the table while they went to chat with friends in the store. We waited for our drinks while the staff mingled, which was frustrating.

Food: • Shrimp Salad – This wasn’t really a salad, let alone an Asian-style one. It was basically the pickled carrots and daikon from their sandwiches with four butterflied shrimp (giving the illusion of eight pieces). Eating a plate of pickled vegetables wasn’t what I had in mind. • Egg Tart – My daughter was excited to try it, but it was a huge letdown. It was cold, hard, and had a dense filling. The crust wasn’t light and flaky but more like a biscuit. • Thai Tea – We ordered two, and the disappointment was real. The tea was weak, not brewed properly, and lacked sweetness. We gave it a 2/10.

FOOD: I decided to check out this newly opened spot and placed my first order. I got the 6pc Fried Pork Wontons, 4pc Veggie Fried Egg Rolls, 2pc Shrimp Spring Rolls with Peanut Sauce, and a Red Thai Tea with Boba. The food was pretty good, but I noticed the sauce containers were only half full, and they charged an extra 50 cents for more. This was the prefect amount for two people, definitely a lot for just one unless you have big appetite.

SERVICE: Ordering online was straightforward, and I appreciated the convenience. However, when I received a text saying my order was ready, I arrived to find there was no separate line for online orders. Everything was mixed together, and they packed my order only when I got there. A little disappointing, but overall not bad.

FYI‼️ The shrimp spring rolls were just sitting on the counter, placed in assembled containers inside a basket. I’m not sure how I feel about that, it might be to prevent the wrapper from getting hard, but I’m a little iffy about the shrimp sitting out for that long, even though...

Mi Bistro was very good this is the BEST Bahn Mi I had so far in Stockton I’ve only tried 2 other spots. The sandwich was a large portion and filled enough to satisfy. I got the Char Siu Pork and added Pate and Mayo since this one does not come with the sauce they give you is so delicious it’s not the chili but a dark thin sauce loved it. Staff is extremely friendly and understanding of accommodations or questions. I had the Thai tea red (orange color) it was good but not as sweet as other places as this one may be more authentic to Vietnamese culture! The green buns and purple buns are Taro and Mung bean deserts it is more soft, bread like and the inside filling is more tarte than sweet it was 6.5/10, next time I will try a different dessert.
