Tio Pepe’s is a classic Stockton establishment. Located in downtown, we prefer to go on Sundays when parking is free and convenient. If you go right at 11am, the service is great and the wait time is nonexistent. The restaurant is clean, well lit, and has some gorgeous hanging plants inside. You can tell there is a pride of ownership! The chips and salsa are pretty good… if you like more of a kick, make sure to ask for their super spicy salsa. I find the regular salsa to be a little bland for my taste. Their gravy and cheese? On point! I always order the Pork Soup, which is literally pork, broth and rice— but with that spicy salsa added in? Magical. My husband gets a Beef Taco and a couple of Cheese Enchiladas and he says it is always good. Their pricing is extremely fair. They have a couple of rooms for Private Parties. Plus, the balloon arch in the front is fun… I’m sure you could hire that company to decorate the space for you! Overall, if you’re looking for a classic Stockton dining experience, then make sure to check...
Read moreWORST FOOD EVER* My boyfriend and I came here for dinner yesterday, and deeply regret ever walking in this establishment. The food we ordered arrived very quickly and everything was covered in some type of brownish, red beef flavored gravy.....even his quesadilla!!!!! After one bite, we knew the food was not fresh and borderline rancid! Once we left the restaurant to head back to the peninsula, we both became violently ill and made several stops on our hour and a half drive home! This place should be condemned and I now know why it was basically empty on a Sunday evening. We were referred by a local resident to the ORiginal Top Pepe's....and mistakenly yelped this restaurant and made the worst mistake by coming here! I have already called the health department to report this restaurant. I hope my review prevents anyone else from eating here and suffering the illness we both encountered...
Read moreWaited 20 min for someone to acknowledge us at the table that was directly across from.the door to the kitchen. We then ended up waiting another 45 min for food. Meanwhile we ran out of chips n salsa waiting so long. Our drinks ran dry and no one would come to the table. Food came and I literally got a half cup of beans , rice, chili Colorado and a what can only be described as a piece of a chili releno for $15! It was Luke warm and disappointing. Our waitress was rude and complained about her personal issues. Very disappointing visit. Will...
