Delicious food, friendly and attentive service, very clean restrooms, kids friendly, well-organized menu and clear price.
Food- we ordered 3 lbs of seafood so we got 3 free sides. Among the sides, we love the garlic noodle the most. It is savory to eat alone or with the house sauce from the seafood boil. For the seafood, my wife really enjoyed the snow crab, and the mussels were big and fresh. Shrimp (with heads-on) might not be the best (we are coming from the Gulf so the mental bar for Cajun food is high), and some clams were missing from their shells which we could not really find in the boiling bag. Their house sauce is amazing. It is not the traditional Cajun style but an innovative mixture of Cajun+Korean style, which I found thrilling to try.
Service- all servers in the restaurant are super nice and friendly, with smiles on their faces. After taking your orders, they will confirm the list, and when the boiling bag is ready, the other server who dumped the food from the bag will again introduce what are in the bag. They were also very attentive to refill my cups, and showed a pleasant attitude to my 3-yo daughter, who inevitably, made a little mess during the eating. They even gave her a toy gift at the end of our dinner.
Cleanliness- one of the key factors I personally care about any restaurant that I dine in is the cleanliness of their restrooms, which to some extent, reflects the overall hygiene level of those "employee only" areas and how serious the managers view all food safety issues. My expectation to the cleanliness of a "Cajun boiling crab/LA fishermen style" restaurant is not high, since the hand-eating style and all kinds of sauce will definitely make it hard to keep the environment clean. To be frank, I am amazed by the cleanliness of the restroom here- it's very tidy and clean, the best I have ever experienced among all similar kinds of restaurants.
Last but not the least, the price/efficiency. All the prices of different seafood are listed on a blackboard hanging in the middle of the restaurant, and also clearly organized on their menu with criteria of free sides. After ordering, the boiling basket came out within a decent amount of time, at least my 3-yo did not feel bored to leave her high chair. I consider that an efficient cooking. When we were dining in, the restaurant was about 1/2-2/3 full, so not the busiest time but full-operational. I also saw an owner/manager-like male was supervising his fellow servers/chefs to prepare food. Again, it's a great sign to me that someone taking the ownership of the restaurant was actually at...
Read moreMisleading Pricing – Charged Per Pound but Served Ounces
During a recent visit, I noticed a significant discrepancy between the menu description and what was actually served. The menu stated to “pick 2 seafood items by the pound” at market price, which would reasonably suggest receiving about a pound of each choice.
Instead, our selection was a single 4–6 ounce piece (roughly 1/4–1/3 lb), yet the charge reflected the full “market price” for a pound. When I asked about the bill, staff explained the price was “per piece,” not per pound—contradicting the menu’s wording.
Massachusetts consumer-protection laws (Chapter 93A) require that pricing be clearly communicated and not misleading. In this case, the difference between what was advertised and what was served resulted in much less value than a reasonable customer would expect.
Clear communication about both portion sizes and pricing—especially for “market price” items—helps maintain trust and transparency. The saddest part is that if the menu had simply omitted the “by the pound” wording and stated “market price is by the piece,” I probably would have ordered the same thing, without leaving with the impression of being misled. If you’ve experienced something similar, you can report it to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division, which reviews complaints about potentially misleading...

One person who really stood out during my visit to Captain Loui's was Christian. He was an absolutely amazing server - attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He made excellent recommendations and went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was perfect.
Not only did Christian have a great personality, but he also had a wealth of knowledge about the seafood that Captain Loui's serves. He was able to give detailed descriptions of each dish, including the ingredients and the way it was prepared, which really added to our dining experience.
In addition to the great service, the food at Captain Loui's was outstanding. The seafood was fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared, and the portions were generous. We particularly enjoyed the lobster roll, which was bursting with fresh, succulent lobster meat.
