Mel's Downtown Creamery — Restaurant in Stonington

My family and I walked in and the dude working there literally looked so miserable the entire time like he hated his job. Then, when we left I noticed that my phone was not in my purse so we called the place and asked if there was a phone dropped anywhere in the booth we were sitting at and they said that they checked everywhere and it wasn't there. So then we pulled back up to the place and they had just closed and we saw through the window that he was sweeping right in front of our booth and so my cousin walks up to the window with me behind her and knocks on it and as soon as I get to the window I can see my phone sitting right on the end of the booth so clearly no one actually checked. This and the fact that this guy looked absolutely miserable is the reason why I am giving it one star. You should not look like your sulking when working a job where you deal with customers. The service is definitely a very important aspect of a business and I genuinely would not want to go back...

Horrible experience. Soft serve dipped was ruined the first time, during the second attempt the server did not even dip the cone he drizzled a small amount over the top. The milk shake had to be remade twice because it was genuinely milk with a scoop of ice cream… both times equally thin and milky. When asked for a banana split, server said all the bananas are “bad” so instead a sundae was ordered. The sundae was given with only whipped cream and a cherry. Server did not ask for toppings of any sort. Very disappointing. The place smelt bad and the tables were wiggling. The floors were extremely dirty. The service was poor and took a lengthy time. A 50's throwback ice cream parlor. We have been going for a few years and the last time we went I was very disappointed. I ordered the chocolate peanut butter cup and there was no pb to be found I tried to dig around to search for it but had lots of trouble cause the spoon they give u is so cheap it kept bending with the hard ice cream. The floor was so dirty our shoes kept sticking to it. The three girls behind the counter were not very personable and extremely slow. Not sure what happened but it's definitely not the same. Threw most of my ice cream away and left to go...
