Viking Brew Pub — Restaurant in Stoughton

5 Stars doesn't do this place any Justice at all nor the recognition they truly deserve , If I could I would give them 10 ** . We drove from Grand Rapids Michigan so that we can celebrate my birthday at the Viking brew pub in Stoughton Wisconsin on Dec.2nd. 2018. and it was more than worth our trip , it was honestly the best birthday celebration I had ever had in my whole entire life & I was so glad that I chose to go to the Viking brew pub to celebrate it , I had contacted Viking brew pub beforehand and let them know that I was going to be coming and that I really wanted to sit at the Viking ship bar that was like my whole purpose of going there & to see the Smoking Dragon :) lol so I found out that normally they don't Reserve seats at the bar unless it's at least a party of six or more , well I express to them how badly I had been wanting to come there for a long time and that I wanted to celebrate my birthday there as well and how I just had to be able to sit at the Viking ship bar and have even at least a drink if not something to eat as well , so I asked them is there any way at all possible that I can have two seats reserved for me please , they were more than accommodating and sent me a message back asking me did I know what time we were going to arrive and I told them that I wasn't sure exactly what we would be leaving Grand Rapids Michigan and on our way only making Necessary stops but would arrive there as soon as possible , now once we were on our way when we knew for sure what time we were going to be able to arrive we called and let them know a more exact time that we were going to arrive , so we finally arrived at the Viking brew pub and after we entered the building we went straight to the Viking ship bar and what them know who we were , we had a warm welcome reception waiting on us , a little sign that said reserved and a balloon tied to a chair that said happy birthday on it Etc. I was so surprised and overwhelmed with our more than warm welcome reception and all of the hospitality put together by our new friends the owners at the Viking brew pub Vik & Lori , they are truly amazing and really awesome people and our bartender Skippy was as well , they had spectacular food and beer and just all-around everything from the decor to the warm Pleasant feeling of being there , they all sang Happy Birthday to me and it was a very pleasant feeling , people knew me by name and I had no clue who they were at all and they all knew we had just drove all of the way from Grand Rapids Michigan to come there to celebrate my birthday , This truly is a one-of-a-kind gems & thank you'all so much for everything & I can't wait until I return again and hopefully that will be in May for the festival if not I definitely want to come for my birthday again and celebrate it again with my new friends Vik & Lori & skippy etc.! This used to be one of my top places to go but I am furious after how we were treated tonight! Normally you go in and seat yourself, but tonight there was a hostess to seat us. I am 8 months pregnant and very uncomfortable and when we walked in we were asked if we wanted a high top or a table to sit at. I asked if there was a booth available, the woman said no very firmly. There was clearly a booth open so I said what about that booth right there and pointed to an empty cleared off booth. She said no, she has to distribute the waitresses tables. I was so mad I almost walked out but I have gestational diabetes and I had to eat. So we sat at a table they took us to which was in a horrible spot and I had to lean forward so I wasn't in the way of the wait staff, and not even 2 minutes later someone else (the very next person to walk in) came in and were immediately seated at the booth I asked about! I am so furious and the woman who was the hostess was not a friendly lady at all with little people skills. I am shocked this happened and I am so upset, we will not be back. I used to do events here and bring out of town family here, but no more!

The venue and food were decent, but the service was terrible. In fairness, we were there on a very busy day, Sytennde Mai. However, this festival isn’t new and VBP has been established here long enough to know how to plan for this busy time. Wait time was reasonable to get a table at 30 minutes. We ordered 2 beers and 2 sodas. One of the beers was never delivered and we waited another 20 minutes to get it. Clearly it was forgotten or poorly communicated, but the server apologized. After this, we waited another hour for our food to arrive. Clearly the kitchen or the server forgot our order AGAIN. This was the server’s 2nd sorry. As mentioned, the food was good. After eating the server brought the bill and seemed quick to have us pay. The bill was incorrect and an extra drink was added. After having the bill corrected, the server started clearing/cleaning the table similar to when people had left, yet we were still sitting down. Apparently, they were eager to upset new people. There was no drink comp or good business customer satisfaction ethics to make things right. Hopefully VBP will be better...
