Look, nothing I'm about to say is any kind of secret to anyone who lives in Stoughton. But.
For everyone else: Go to Stoughton and go to Wildwood
Whatever god/dess you may or may not believe in blessed me with a tasty thump when my team lead at work moved to town and invited me for breakfast there.
I should be clear: every time I've gone to Wildwood, everything everyone I've been with has loved whatever they had.
But I'm hooked on the Power To The People, this deceptively complex, flavorful breakfast sandwich. I ordered it my first time there, and I can't help but get it every single time.
Please regard the humble description of this item, from the menu: "Fried egg, pimento cheese and sauteed spinach, served on house made buttermilk biscuit".
You have no idea what you're getting into, and you want this.
The balance of the egg and cheese--it's so easy to get it wrong, but they always do it so right. And there's the perfect amount of vinegar in the spinach that rounds it all out gorgeously...
And the biscuit itself. Good transcendent holy divine galoshes. I am wordlessness. Lightly crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, herbaceous, gently salted, savory...
If you happen to have an extra $million $dollars in your retirement account, don't buy a big house. Don't buy an extraordinarily rad car, no matter how much you might want that sweet Porsche or vintage Charger or whatever or whatever.
Don't even give that money to me.
If you want true happiness, put all of your money in Wildwood's biscuits. Eat them constantly, and give the rest to everyone you have ever met. You will never be disappointed. You will never know a truer love than this.
Also: --Service is great! Tip generously! --Coffee is great! --The community feeling is truly beautiful. --If you're going on a Saturday or Sunday, get there early. The space will fill up quickly,...
Read moreWhile the food menu is small, the items are freshly prepared and are delicious. The vegetarian bean wrap is particularly scrumptious. The beverage menu is diverse and interesting. My cocoa dream latte could be served hot or iced. Choosing the iced option and requesting that it be made half as sweet as usual, it was just right. What is also wonderful is that, if the traffic allows, customers are welcome to linger over their meals with friends and family. Outside seating is also available. My friend and I dined at Wildwood on a May Friday, after noon, and we're able to spend plenty of time together in the indoor seating area. It is a low key, peaceful space with welcoming staff who provide efficient service with a cheerful attitude. This was my first visit to this little café and, after today's very positive experience, it definitely won't...
Read moreCute place. A little lack of communication from the person who took our coffee order to the person making them. We had asked for whole milk in one of the americanos and it was left with room, and was told the one we had asked to have oat milk would be left with room and could put our own amount in. It was already in which was okay. Just confused. I also ordered a cheese biscuit because the menu made it sound delicious. Kinda bummed it was stale. Probably really good fresh.
This place could use a few things to button up the charm and add maybe one more cheese option to the menu other than pimiento. I like pimiento cheese, but it kept us from getting breakfast because my partner doesn't like it. If there were a cheddar or American option, we would have gotten...
