I stumbled on this place while being in the area on business for 3 weeks. Being a Chicago foodie can be hard to please trying to eat outside of the big chains however this place is special. This is a family owned shop and the cook with love. I ate here everyday for breakfast and dinner. I tried something from every category on the menu. Chicken cutlet grinder, Philly steak grinder, Sopes, Chicken Quesodilla, Tacos, Tuna, The Slammi, Breakfast sandwiches and a few daily specials. (See Pictures).
The ambiance of this place is warm with the stained log wood tables and chairs. The ladies are friendly, patient, and prepares your food as if they fixed themselves and nice dinner plate at Thanksgiving. EVERYTHING is fresh all ingredients, everyday. The deserts are just as good. And the daily specials sellout quick.
I spoke to a few regulars including a police officer and their faces light up when they talk about EL SOL. They have their schedule set. They call in, pop in grab their order and off to begin or continue the day.
I would definitely recommend this place. If it's your first time I suggest eating in. Best item to eat mainly all of it but if you can catch their daily specials they are definitely the best.
Also when they are busy please be patient. Your food will be worth the wait.
I look forward to going back...
Read moreI had food from this place for the first time today, It was referred to me by a friend. I ordered the steak and chicken empanada tacos 🌮 🤤 All I can say is sooooooooooooo good. The crunch was crispy and savory and the fillings were well seasoned and cooked to perfection! The avocado sauce was the icing on the cake. I’ll definitely be back for more. The wait wasn’t bad, I ordered as soon as I entered, the cashier greeted me as soon as she seen me and allowed me time to review the menu before asking if I knew what I wanted to order, Very friendly and polite. The location is easily accessible from i95 and there is a parking lot which isn’t too congested. I can say on the negative side (and it could just be a preference thing) I did not like the texture of the rice, it was very clumpy as if maybe they used too much water… as far as the taste of it, the taste was great. I couldn’t complain about the flavors at all. The beans were also pretty good, overall the whole meal tasted great. I’d recommend the empanada...
Read moreHappened to be in the Stratford area this morning and El Sol Deli was suggested for a local stop. Looking for a breakfast sandwich to go I chose to stop by. The breakfast menu was very diverse from the standard egg sandwiches to burritos. I orderd up a bacon egg and cheese and walked around the store while my order was cooked. Many sandwich options for lunch from deli meats to Buffalo chicken. Soft drinks, bakery goods and chips are also offered. For those that want to dine inside there are about 4 tables all with a bar and stools that overlook the parking lot. The bar top is a tile terra cotta that gives a nice homey feel. Looking forward to coming back to try more things...
