I had to give an overall 3 Stars. But note that I gave five stars to atmosphere because that is what Gilbert's coffee bar has going for it. When you mention Gilbert's people talk about the atmosphere but you'll note that don't talk about much else regarding Gilbert's!
Food/Service: One Star. The prices are comprable too many local breakfast places... But the food quantity and quality is below par. The avocado toast at Gilbert's is not a $12 avocado toast. There was less than a schmear of avocado and just a small sprinkle of goat cheese.
The only service person we came in contact with at the register didn't know how much the mimosas were but they must have been 12 or 15 dollars. That's fine but this Mimosa was extra small I would say 2 inches in the bottom of the glass and mostly juice. It was almost as if they didn't have any champagne left in the bottle and didn't want to open another one!
No price on the special of the day latte.
Three of us came to the register and all intended to purchase our own meal but the person at the register just rang everything up together.... That's why service gets one star. if you are providing service you find out what your customer wants you don't just assume. And that was it for service. Two very small mimosas, a small latte and one avocado toast...over $45. But I'll say again, the atmosphere...

Abigail has given Stuart a must visit place to enjoy. GO! Spend some time relaxing on the covered porch, enjoy the panorama of the Marina and mingle with the folks. Enjoy that Latte, whatever; all good!
Nice selection of pastries, delicious wraps (though I wish one of them was Tuna!😄) Coffee selection is good and the staff polite, efficient, helpful. The ambience is tops! Spacious enough inside but can fill up easily. The porch is ample, covered and comfortably furnished to welcome everyone to relax: singles, couples or larger groups of friends, all with a great view of the Marina and out of the Sun or light rain.
Most beautiful Sunsets in Stuart as viewed over the Marina. The addition of live music (some evenings) and the congenial allure of the round hearth make Gilbert's a Top Contender for "Best of Stuart."
Please visit. Wine, beer, coffee,, snacks or pastries,, Avocado Toast and more, get moving and enjoy.
Don't be put off by the limited parking, there's valet and alternative parking easily accessed from the other side by Sailor's Return. Short walk past Sailor's,...
Read moreI was so ready to fall in love at this place, but Gilbert's has some preventative issues with their food quality, drink quality, and staff. The ambiance is great, being on the water and all, but my suggestion is to enjoy that view by talking a walk right by it, marveling at how the (few) people patronizing Gilbert's manage to keep their coffee/food down. Their avocado toast ($11) makes wet cardboard sound appealing --my friend could barely finish it, and wants me to add that it "put the sour in sour dough." My spiced latte (~$5.5, "Mexican" style) was spiced for sure, which is typical for hot chocolate, but didn't work in their latte --in fact it was unrecognizable as a latte and was terrible. One of the staff members, who didn't take my order, was friendly... but the one who did take my order was clearly upset I was distracting her from Snapchat and Instagram, and was visually displeased as I walked in the door. Beautiful place though, but Gilbert's is going...
