I'm hoping this afternoon was just an off day for this place. I went on a date here with my bf because we thought we'd be able to get the current wing deal for national wings day.... we didn't, the staff said the deal was only for takeout which I can't prove either way so I'll just leave it at that probably being on us. There were a few noticeable problems besides that though, I wouldn't be talking about it otherwise. When we sat down we noticed that our table was incredibly sticky to the point where our phones and the menus kept getting stuck to the table which made both of us incredibly uncomfortable. My bf even wiped the table down with one of the rags and sanitizers and the table was still sticky. When my bf ordered he asked for the appetizer that came with the 2 for 25 meal deal and we ended up getting extra wings that we were also charged for despite not asking. When the wings arrived they were lukewarm and one plate had extra sauce with it while the other plate didn't (neither of us asked for extra sauce even though we enjoy it but this indicates a problem either way) and the wings we got barely had any sauce on them. When we got our main course all the food was also lukewarm and extremely bland as if it had no seasoning on any of it whatsoever which is not something I've had happen at any other Applebee's locations. The last and probably most frustrating part of the experience this afternoon happened right before we left. My bf asked to get the check after he finished his food and was going to wait for me to finish up my food before leaving. While I was finishing up I took maybe five minutes to go to the restroom and when I came back the rest of my food was gone which was a shock to both me and my bf because after two minutes of discussing it we found out that our waitress had taken the rest of my food without asking my bf if we'd like to take the rest home while my bf was distracted from paying our tab on the touch screen checkout. I'm really hoping this was just an off day and that things are usually better because the experience was overall uncomfortable and unpleasant compared to what we're used to...
Read moreI apologize for the long review, but Applebee's wouldn't let me post more than 1200 characters. Car side to go time set for 10:25. A girl w/ long blonde hair came outside w/food, she asked what my name was, I said Marjorie. She realized that it wasn't my order, she delivered the food to the car next to me. I had arrived at 10:15. She said your food will be out in a cpl of mins. I waited in my car until 10:45, I looked for a telephone # in my email so I could call to see where my food was & I noticed on my order it said NO potatoes, I didn't request that. I hobble into the restaurant (bad right knee) to find out what was going on & that I DID want potatoes. There were a about 5 orders sitting at the end of the bar, mine included. I told the bartender that I didn't request no potatoes, she went to tell kitchen staff that I needed potatoes. So I walked to the bathroom, when I came back the bartender was at the other side tending bar. I asked her is my order all set? She said yes that big brown bag is yours. I then said is my dessert in there as well? She said yes, I was in disbelief that my dessert which is cold was in a bag with hot food. I said why did I have to come inside to retrieve my order when I choose car side to go. Bartender said, the girl who delivers the food is a minor & had to go home. How is that my problem? There should have been a manager or another employee to deliver my car side. I just wonder how long I would have waited in my car if I didn't go in. What was ironic is that same long haired girl was still working in the restaurant, I feel like she never told anyone that I was waiting. Get it together Sturbridge Applebee's. By the time I got home and ate it was close to 11:30 food had lost most of it's heat, & who knows how long my order was on that bar before I came in. Unprofessional to say the least. Read moreThe service was great. Serena was a very good server. Unfortunately, the food was not good. The apps were the usual corporate frozen combis. And they were ok. Not great but ok. Chowder was ok. The potatoes were cold, but the soup didn't seam old or over cooked. We were fine with them. But the main course, not at all. I ordered the beef brisket tacos, which tasted like they had gone off. I only had a couple of bites. My mashed potatoes we're flat( how is that even possible?) and stuck to the plate. Prob instant. Who knows had two bites and decided not to go for more. My son's burger tasted off also. He took two bites and said it tasted funny. Like vinegar. I told him not to eat it. We decided to pay via the kiosk on the table, so as not to raise a fuss. The server asked if we wanted boxes we said no. To her credit she came back and asked if there was something wrong. I explained we didn't like it and not to worry. She cancelled our payment, had the Manager take off my dinner. So I didn't have to pay for it. The manager never came over to make sure we really didn't eat our meals, I think they must have realized if she asked to have it comped there was a good reason. I was embarrassed enough that food was taken off the bill, I never like to be seen as a complainer... Being g a former server myself.. so I was wicked happy the manager didn't come to the table. Our stomachs were gurgling right after. I became later in the grocery store of all places. Luckily my son did not. I'm still not right. I will never go back to an Applebee's again. This proves corporate places have sub par quality. We are def sticking to small, locally...
