We made the bad decision of neglecting to reserve a table at 7 on a Friday night. We ended up having to wait 10 or so minutes for a seat at the bar, the another 10 for our table to be ready. However, we were able to order drinks at the bar, and when we got to be seated, our server was very prompt in getting water and our app orders. Our server wasn’t chatty, which I liked. She was polite, to the point, and exceptionally effective. We were never in need of anything, and were interrupted very little. My husband and I ordered 3 small plates for us to share. The PEI mussels were fantastic. Lightly garlicky, mildly sweet, with a perfect blend of small leek pieces and bacon bites. The lamb meatballs were delicious with an almost nutty flavor and the creamy tomato sauce gave the perfect balance with a mild mint undertone. The Crazy Dates were by far my favorite with the perfect combination of sweet and savory. The goat cheese filling was mild, the bacon lent the perfect smoky flavor, and the balsamic reduction gave a rich balance of acid to cut through the delectable richness. The three small plates were the perfect amount of food for my husband and me, and left us satisfied with enough room for dessert. To finish off the evening, we had the vanilla crème brûlée. This dessert was beyond words. The crème itself was deliciously sweet, rich in flavor and texture, and smooth to perfection. The heavy crème was paired with just the right amount of subtly sweetened home made whipped cream. All around a perfect meal and fantastic service - especially for a Friday evening. We currently have a running ranking of the restaurants on the Fiskdale/Sturbridge strip, and based on this visit Cedar Street Grille has successfully made its way into...
Read moreMy recent visit to Cedar Street Grille left much to be desired. Our waitress's service (Sarah) was subpar and overshadowed any positives of the evening. From the start, we encountered issues – the waitress seemed more interested in pushing drinks than addressing our initial questions about the appetizers. She actually said, let's get drinks before I answer your questions!
The mussels were a major letdown, being the size of peas! Adding to the frustration was the exorbitant cost of bread, priced at $4 per serving. Our request for additional bread to enjoy the mussels' broth could have been better handled, arriving 20 minutes later when the mussels had already gone cold. We faced resistance when asked for the bread to be removed from the bill.
Even the suggested famous fried chicken dish fell short when my sister's boyfriend's customization request was ignored, and the server's dismissive response only exacerbated the situation. My sister suggested ONE complimentary glass of wine to remedy the situation, but to our dismay, we were charged for that class on the final bill. When we raised this issue, the server's attitude turned argumentative before reluctantly rectifying the billing error.
We were disappointed not only in the quality of the experience but also in the server's lack of service. We were in the bar area, and she became invisible after mistakes working at the bar, and we dealt with multiple other staff. It's disheartening to have had such a negative encounter, especially considering I had spoken highly of this place to my family. Regrettably, I won't be returning to Cedar Street Grille based on...

We ordered two starters: fried pickles and flatbread pizza. The sauce that came with the pickles was on point. The pickles were perfectly fried. The flatbread pizza. Where do I start? The size was extremely generous. The crust was fabulous. Just the perfect 'doneness'. My DH was hesitant bout the pickled cauliflower but, my God, whoever came up with this combo in the kitchen is a genius. The perfect combination of savory and sweet...wow.
For our meals (which we couldn't complete - lol!) we had the southern fried chicken with collard greens and chicken sliders as well as a side caesar with grilled chicken. All the chicken was perfectly cooked. Tender and delicious and seasoned perfectly.
The Southern fried chicken and collard greens were outstanding. Again, the chef in the kitchen (Toddy, I believe she said) is a genius.
I was taken aback that someone from new England actually knows how to cook collard greens correctly. I couldn't get enough.
As I said, we didn't finish our meals but I of course took some coconut cream pie home because they do not buy in any of their desserts! I would be crazy not to try their homemade coconut cream pie.
I enjoyed the pie later that evening and, oh boy, was it goood. A homemade buttery, perfect consistency, crust, and fluffy coconut cream pie with just the right amount of coconut sweetness, not too overpowering.
We live 45 minutes away but we really hope to visit here again very soon.
Service- outstanding, top notch.
