06/21/2018 - update, three stars removed. Me and my wife had been enjoying Sturbridge Seafood since after they opened. We almost always order the fish tacos. On 06/18/2018 we picked up two orders of fish tacos. The fish was soggy, they were lacking in content and they are usually so full you need two hands to pick them up. They are usually even good the next day but this time they didn't taste as if they had been cooked properly.
I stopped by when I had a chance a few days later and politely asked if they had changed ingredients or hired a new cook. The lady took my receipt and went to talk to the cook. After she came back she didn't have an answer as to what could go wrong and again offered to see if she could do something with the check. I explained again I'm not interested in a refund. However, I am interested in not getting another bad meal. Get a few bucks back and then be back at square one next time? No thank you.
She then left and I guess went to talk to somebody else and came back with the same offer. I again explained how I have been enjoying their usually awesome food and quick service but if something had changed, I would like to know. She explained how they do listen to customer feedback and make immediate changes. I could buy this except they didnt seem to concerned about 'what' was wrong with the meal? I felt my question was not taken seriously and frankly I'm more upset with this than anything else. I have included a picture of one of tacos we got that night.
I'd be glad to give Sturbridge Seafood back the star for the bad meal and the two stars for not either not taking my question seriously or thinking I was trying to shake them down for a few bucks. Just let me know I'm not going to be getting another bad meal and I'll be happy.
Original review:
Surprisingly good chowder! I have been coming here on and off since they first opened at this location and haven't had a bad meal or service! Even though the 'express' is closed and is now used for normal seating they still offer quick take out. A pair of delicious seafood tacos and two chowders is a mere 20 minutes! They always remember what you ordered and always seem to be smiling even when the...
Read moreSturbridge seafood is on our rotation, we don't come here all the time but try to frequent at least five times a year. We always find the appetizers to be some of the best around. We got the crab cakes and the calamari and finished both off quickly. Enjoyed a grapefruit martini ( one of the main reasons I come here their drinks are great) I ordered to lobster roll and he ordered the paella. Lobster roll was a stuffed full and tasty the paella however was subpar to say the least and he barely ate any of it. Every mussel and clam was so overcooked it looked like melted plastic in the shell, he removed them and put to the side, it was loaded with peas which most were crunchy. Everything seemed to be well overcooked and he pretty much didnt eat any of it. We spoke to our waitress and she asked if she could bring the shellfish back to the kitchen to show them. Of course we had no issue as we thought they would attempt to make something right. Not the case. I wish I had snapped a picture but I was for sure thinking they would make an attempt, as you could clearly see he didn't eat it. Not the case, didn't take the meal off, ok I guess, didn't take a drink off or offer a dessert a little disappointing. I didn't give it less than 3 stars because we have eaten here often and most times receive good service. Today was not one of those days. Our waitress although was not rude she definitely wasn't warm or didn't seem to care about the terrible dish brought out. We spent $160 before tip so it' was disappointing.

Read moreOur two appetizers were slightly spicy crab cakes which were good and muscles which were delicious, my favorite item of the night. Fish and chips were good and fish tacos were delicious. I ordered swordfish which was served with fingerling potatoes and veggies. After getting clarification that they side was a combination of the veg and potatoes the server suggested anything I didn’t want could be taken off. So I ordered the $30+ swordfish, asked for no tomatoes. My order came after everyone else’s and looked like it was thrown on the plate. Swordfish was small, about a half inch thick, overcooked and dry. Not what I expected from a restaurant specializing in seafood. Since my food was already served late I didn’t bother complaining. Will only order what we know is good if/when we go back. There was a steady crowd, people left and more came in as quickly as they cleared the tables. There is one table at the end of the entry hall in the room to the left of the main door that got the cold breeze whenever the door opened. We sat there last fall and it was cold so this time we asked to move and watched the next party seated there ask to move also. The server said “well they used to have a curtain there but they took it down.” So fix it people or stop seating people at that table! We spent over $300 with drinks, apps and entrees and tip. It’s a good place that we like but it’s not as good as it once was. They do a good business, wish they’d take better care of...
