A deep dive into Sturbridge Coffee House

We woke in the morning at our hotel and sadly the coffee option there was a bit disappointing so we headed out to see what the area had to offer and actually just assumed we would hit the local Dunkin Donuts, but then we passed by this place and did a U-turn and we are so happy that we did! It was packed, line was literally out the door! At first we were considering not waiting but we are a bit adventurous and decided to wait it out. Now we know why they were so busy! The baristas were running circles getting to all the orders! When there's a line it usually is a sign of something to good inside. I was desperate for a good cup of coffee especially since we've busy returned from Italy and haven't had a coffee to compare. Great menu options!!! I got the Black Eye, what's that? I said the same thing! It's a cuonof coffee with 2 shots of espresso! It was "magnifico "! They have a decent menu to choose from and it all looked amazing but we were there for the coffee and the atmosphere did not disappoint! We sat outside and people watched while we sipped our coffee and planned our day. It was so nice out we ended up staying for about an hour and half! If you get the chance to check them out, please do! ☕ ☕️ ☕️

First of all, if you go here, know that you have to park behind the building. There is signage, according to a friend I met there, but it's certainly not obvious. There was a long line. It was Saturday morning, and I was with a friend, but if I'd had any sort of time constraint, I think I'd have left long before I got to the counter. My bagel was acceptable. I also ordered a chocolate chip cookie. It wasn't actually unpleasant, but I wouldn't order another one. The "cold brew" coffee, on the other hand- and I put that in quotes because though I definitely ordered and was charged for the cold brew, when the barista (a diff person than I ordered with) gave the drink to me, she simply said "large iced coffee". Whatever it's name was, it tryly tasted exactly like what happens when I pour hot coffee that has been sitting in the break room all day over a styrofoam cup of ice. I'm glad I could support local business, but if/when I return to Sturbridge, I won't be going back.

Place was packed, we ordered sandwiches and coffee to go, was a bit frustrated they didn’t have ingredients available for the bagels, but got it to work out… as I was eating however, when I was over halfway through, I bit into/had to spit out something hard. Turns out the plastic piece that seals bread bags had gotten cooked into my sandwich…!?! Glad I was able to spit it out but still, I realize they were busy yet this is unprofessional. Otherwise the food was fine, coffee was tasty. Just wish I hadn’t had a piece of inedible plastic in my food. I also think there may have still been cross-contamination as I told them my allergy to tree nuts and sunflower seeds, and we confirmed this bagel didn’t have seeds but the toaster they used may have had remaining pieces or crumbs as I did develop a minor allergic reaction.

This is one of my favorite places. I come here after working as a night RN several mornings each week, and it didn’t take long before they knew me by name, and what I liked to order. The staff is super friendly, and they’ve even saved me a dessert sometimes when they knew they would run out of what I like. To top it off, the lunch food is absolutely amazing, plus really good French fries (one of my major food groups). They are even willing to serve lunch food in the early morning which is fantastic for a night shift frontline worker! On a scale from 0-10 where 0 is no pain and - I mean -where 0 is the worst place and 10 is the best, SCH gets a 10

My first experience with Sturbridge Coffee House was sadly not to good. I was at a meeting and they had a box of coffee. It leaked everywhere, and didn't come with enough creamer, it was just poor. I didn't think I should write them off from this so I set up a meeting at their location and got my usual latte. It was great! The staff was very friendly, got a very warm introduction from the owner, the whole place was very inviting and a lot of business seemed to be happening (meaning people were working and having meetings at this location). It was business friendly and I'm very happy I went on location. I will be back again.

Great little shop with tons of seating and parking. The sandwiches are yummy and the tea/coffee is good - they have oatmilk which is nice, but they put a bit too much in so it's hard to taste the coffee (you have to put less with oat milk because the oat flavor is strong) and still a good inch of room left in the cup(incl. foam) and I hadn't even taken a sip yet. But I'm sure if you like your coffee with the flavors instead of no sugar like I do it's probably better. They have a "Laptop bar" where you can work and look out the window while charging up. Free WiFi. I'd def come back if I'm in the area. Nice local spot.
