Sidehack Saloon — Restaurant in Sturgis

My husband and I are locals, moving to Sturgis after living in Hill City for 35 years and decided to give this place a try for dinner. Knowing it was a saloon/restaurant combo we weren't expecting the Alpine Inn. We eat out on average of a couple of times a week, so there was potential for this place to gain our support for years to come! When I ordered the entree of chicken fried steak, the menu (which you can also.read online here!) stated I was to receive veggies AND a choice of potato AND a salad! I got the steak (Luke warm and about the size of a fried egg!) and mashed potatoes with gravy...NO veggies and NO salad! The Aussie that waited on us never came back to the table to check on us. When he finally showed up to bring our check, I asked about my veggies (didn't even get to all about the salad!!) and the jerk ARGUED with me and tried to tell me that it was a choice of veggies OR potato!!! He didn't even go get the menu and let me read it again! I did so on our way out and, sure enough...I AM CORRECT!! We will NEVER go to the Sidehack again and we will NEVER refer anyone there! If you’re hungry and hoping to eat anytime soon, do yourself a favor and skip this place. We waited 20 minutes just to get coffee and water—after reminding the waitress twice. When we finally placed our breakfast order, we sat for over an hour only to find out it was never even entered into the system. The waitress walked past our table multiple times, clearly saw us waiting, and said nothing. When we asked another staff member to check on our food, she didn’t bother—had she done so, the mistake could’ve been caught.

This wasn’t just bad service—it was complete disregard. We left hungry, frustrated, and baffled that a restaurant could operate like this.

We ended up heading down the street to the local DQ, where—thankfully—we got our food quickly and were treated like actual customers. The difference was...

Well as we are now residents of Sturgis, S Dakota we were out looking for a place that we could go....kind of a regular place. It won't be Side Hack.....they are way too expensive and they say the posted prices are their regular prices till the rally....then they go up! 😱 Up??? Its over $10 for a hamburger now! Really? A bar burger? A 321 drink is $7.....for those who don't know what that is its 3 shots for the price of 2 so $3.50 per shot.......it was $7 for a weak tequila sunrise...yes..weak.....and small. Bummer. Not sure about the staff....our waitress left right after we ordered.....for cinco de mayo...they offered free chips and salsa.....I understand why they were free....chips were burnt and salsa was.....well it might have been salsa...tasted more like watered down...
