Just trying to find a breakfast place that will be my go to place. This might be it. I can't say enough about the wait staff and servers. They are so pleasant and attentive. I will definitely go to back to The Farmers Daughter. The owner would have been very pleased with her staff.
5/29/22 I was very disappointed in the chicken/waffles. The only reason I went here was the hype about the $22 chicken and waffles plate. I was told get there early to avoid waiting. Got there about 7:30. The server Ashley was very pleasant and welcoming. my waffles and chicken was served and the 1st thing I did was moved the poached eggs to a separate plate because I didn't want runny egg yolks all over the waffles. I then tried slicing into the chicken which was a piece of a beast and a thigh. I was shocked at how dry both pieces were. I was there 1st thing in the morning so the chicken should have been hot and juicy. This was my 1st visit. All I could think was how did the chef/cook think it was ok to put those dried out pieces of chicken on a plate to be served to a customer! How! I didn't say anything because I was upset and would have made a scene. Also I was with my daughter and did not want to ruin her breakfast. People already think black people try to get a free meal by complaining about the food. Casually walked in with my dog this past Sunday morning and were told it’d be nearly a two-hour wait for a table inside. We did manage to snag a high-top outside without a wait. The setting was lovely, and the food was fresh and satisfying overall. However, everything leaned pricey (though not surprising for the neighborhood).
As the name suggests, the restaurant places a strong emphasis on sourcing ingredients from farms across New England. From fresh produce and dairy to meats, everything on the menu highlights local providers. I wasn’t familiar with many of the names listed on the board, so I couldn’t tell if the ingredients were harvested and served the same day, but everything we had tasted fresh and good quality.
We started off with their most popular Lemon pistachio cannoli croissant. First of all, $16 for a croissant. In theory, this should’ve been perfect, and it was good. But not $16 good (or closer to $20 after everything). Expected it to be overly sweet with both lemon curd and cannoli cream, but it was surprisingly well-balanced. Still, didn’t get much pistachio flavor.
For regular entrées, we got the Chicken and waffles Benedict and the farmer’s omelette. Benedict was decent. The waffle was dense, not crisp, and the chicken was just okay. Biggest letdown was the egg: overcooked, closer to hard-boiled than poached. The bacon jam added a nice touch, but not enough to make me order it again.
