A regular Sunday afternoon just turned spectacular because we happened to stop by a Gelato place for dessert, and were greeted by the hospitable and intelligent owner Dietmar. I find in my circle of friends, people with Engineering backgrounds seem to enjoy learning and tweaking the perfect formula for things like Gelato, Coffee, and Photography. Dietmar is a polyglot who speaks fluently German, English, French, and Spanish. His expertise and attention to detail in crafting his Gelato and Coffee are immediately evident once you sample the pride of his work.
The Pistachio is one of the toughest Gelato to master because it needs a lot of careful babysitting to have the right temperature, texture, and flavor. We were completely satisfied with the Pistachio Gelato here, and we have tasted Gelato from Florence and Rome. The Caffe Barista which is Coffee flavored has the same rich flavor and the sweetness is just perfect. The price is so reasonable too compared to some other Gelato places that don’t have the same level of quality.
We have a Strawberry and Banana Crepe that’s enjoyable, made from a recipe sent from Dietmar’s daughter in France. It hits the spot when it’s made warm and fresh.
After the neighboring customers keep telling us they have the best coffee anywhere, we would be remiss if we don’t try a Cappuccino as our dessert Espresso drink. The machine is a manual old-school professional equipment that takes skill to use properly. We love our Double Espresso-based coffee drink with Steamed Milk Foam, rich, smooth, and complex.
Food is still the best excuse to connect with people, and today’s visit to Dietmar’s Gelato Picks is such a wonderful treat for us. During the time we were there, every customer is greeted like a friend by the owner and their faces are beaming with happiness and delight visiting this Gelato spot with old-world charm. When you visit Gelato Picks next time, please let Dietmar you're a friend of Vanessa and Michael. I trust that you’ll have a fantastic...

Read moreFive Stars NOT ENOUGH! My daughter and I were looking for a coffee place while in Sugarland the other day. Google search brought us to Gelato Picks. From the minute we walked in the door and were greeted by Mr. Neidhardt the owner we realized that this place was different. The personalization given to us and to each customer that came in the door was something that i have not experienced before. He took the time to explain what each delectable was and how it was made. I enjoyed a cup of Einspaenner, not going to tell you what it is, just go try it! and my daughter enjoyed the Affogato. AMAZING!!! Even though we went for coffee, we had to try some of everything. We shared a fresh made savory crepe. Fresh, Fresh, Fresh! Then we had to try the Spaghetti Gelato. Just the name of it made us curious; however when we learned what it was we had to have it! This is now my new favorite dessert. The food is made specially for each patron, with precision, love, and a story. Everything we ate was amazing and the time we spent there visiting with Mr. Neidhardt and other patrons was so enjoyable and a real experience that you will not get anywhere else. We will be back every time we are in town. Thank you Mr. Neidhardt for a great experience, and...
