Los Tios is a perfect example on how to run a restaurant. We haven't been to Los Tios for several months. My wife and I returned yesterday evening (Thursday). It was very busy which surprised us since it was a weekday around 5pm. We were greeted at the podium by a VERY friendly young lady. She wanted to sit us at a table near the podium, but we ask for something else. There was a table near the bar with a loud mouth woman who was loud mouth even with food in her mouth. So, we asked for a table towards the back. We barely sat down and our waitress greeted us. Chips came out quick and were fresh. Our drink orders came out quickly. We both order something simple, the number 3 (enchilada, guacamole, and the puffy queso). Food was hot and out in a reasonable amount of time. No complaints. Our glasses were kept full by three different people. Someone drop a chip and straw wrapper . It was immediately swept up by an employee. We rarely see that in any restaurant.
Oh, the food. Enchiladas were good as well as their famous puffy queso. There wasn't much guacamole and it was served on the hot plate. However, it was enough for us and didn't get too warm.
The only complaint I have and there's really not much they can do about it. The noise. Even though we were sitting in the back we could still hear the loud mouth woman. I wish these restaurants would ask these loud diners to lower their voices. Since that woman was loud, EVERYONE else had to talk louder. It was a chain reaction and my wife and I could barely hear each other talk. Maybe the lunch hour or early dinner would be a better time to eat here. Overall, we were please with Los Tios and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I just left here for dinner. We live in the area so we have been a bunch of times. Unfortunately today we really felt like we were not welcomed.
We walked in for dinner and itās busy. 99% of the tables are older white folks. I really didnāt want to make this racial but I canāt think of any other reason (unless it was total incompetence) for how we were treated. Itās clear no one wanted to help us.
They had us sit in the back of the restaurant (no problem) under a malfunctioning light bulb. It was strobing fast. Enough for the couple next to us to make a comment. We watched 3 tables of white people sit and immediately get chips and a server to greet and take drinks. After 15 minutes I practically had to beg someone to please find us a waitress. And to fix the light bulb (or move tables).
I was literally waving my hands at the table and no one even wanted to look at me or acknowledge me. One girl (host?) looked at my straight in the face and did nothing. I did not want to be a hangry Karen but I had to speak up.
We thought about leaving but I expressed our frustrations to the manager (nice lady) and she immediately took care of us.
However I still canāt think why the staff would not acknowledge us. Multiple servers walked by our table. Menus were on our table. They dropped food and drinks to the table immediately next to us and still did not greet us. Getting help after asking for a manager is normal. Expected. What sucks is the service you are supposed to get without having to speak to a manager.
We will never be coming here again and if I can persuade at least one person from coming, Iāll be happy. Photo is from a...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePlease excuse my photos lol if you know me then you know I started eating and forgot all about taking pictures.
PSA Los Tios is OPEN!!
I ordered a lot of food⦠House Guacamole, Katieās T-sip dip, Nachos Los Tios, Fajita Beef Stuffed Puffy Queso, Fajita Beef Quesadillas, Deluxe Taco Plate, and the item I was looking forward to the most Sopapillas.
Iām going to start with the Bad: I was so disappointed too. The Sopapillas description states āFour lightly fried pastries, dusted with cinnamon and powdered sugarā. Served with caramel and honey. What I got was only dusted with cinnamon so they were spicy/tart even with the caramel and honey they were still not good. I challenge the owner or cook to try it like it was given to me to see what we experienced. If it was in fact a mistake then you all owe me an order of Sopapillas please :).
Good: While I was waiting for my food I did notice who I believe to be the owner personally checking on the people dining in. $5 Margaritas was popping and must have been good because everyone had one except me lol. As far as the food everything was pretty good, but the star of the show was the stuffed puffy which was surprising and sad that I only bought one. I will be going back to dine in, try a margarita, and get better pics of the food.
Still sad about my Sopapillas tho. If you order some be sure to check for that sugar and...
