Hoping to enjoy a relaxing Sunday tea time, I made the mistake of choosing a place " 5 stars" that ended up being far below acceptable standards. From the moment I entered the chaotic, messy establishment, I had a sinking feeling that this would not be an enjoyable dining experience. The place was bedlam, with harassed servers rushing about and customers cramped together at dirty tables. Despite the crowd, the staffing was clearly short—at one point, a chef in a filthy uniform even emerged from the kitchen to help bring out dishes. The atmosphere was loud, hectic, and disorganized. My food arrived unceremoniously—an overpriced steam dumplings that was carelessly plated and disappointing in both taste and quality. The meat filling was soggy and under seasoned. For the excessive price I paid, it was unacceptable. Trying to get the server's attention for condiments was an exercise in futility. She rushed past as if she didn't hear me, too overwhelmed by the demanding throngs of customers. I could hardly wait to leave the nightmarish zoo this establishment had become. In the end, I regretted my traditional tea time in sunday choice completely. Rather than a relaxing Sunday lunch, I had braved a dirty, chaotic room only to be served unacceptable food at inflated prices. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this subpar...
Read moreUsually I’m disappointed with mediocre Chinese restaurants in Sugarland and I have to go to Chinatown for good food. However, Dumpling Work is the exception. The dumplings here are really good. My favorite is the shrimp pork chive spicy and sour dumplings are my favorite. A balanced of spicy and sour with savory meat filling. Very additive. Braised pork steam Bao is hot and beefing delicious. Best to eat right away but watch your lips. Steamy hot and delicious. Eggplant and minced pork noodles. At first bite the noodles are a little bland. But when you bite into the crispy fried pork it’s an explosion of flavor. Eating the combination together is the way to go. So good! Xiao long Bao was okay. Not the best I’ve had. In fact I would rather eat all the other dumplings which I thought were just so delicious. I’m coming back to eat through all the items in the menu. Beef and onion pot stickers is really good. Enjoyed the meat flavors. Szechuan tan tan noodles: I found this to be noodle heavy, okay sauce and not enough minced meat. Not what I’m used to for tan tan noodles. Shrimp and Pork wontons: Broth is flavorful with moderate white pepper kick. Wontons were flavorful...
Read moreCraving dumplings so decided to visit for the first time. We ordered the spicy & sour dumpling soup (delicious, great flavor, with a little tickle). Also ordered dumplings and fried rice, they were good but could use more dipping sauces. Other dumpling places I’ve visited offer a variety of dipping sauces ie ginger, red chilly, green pepper, etc this places only had soy sauce and vinegar. Perhaps they are available upon request but not sure.
In regards to the service I didn’t like that they brought out each dish separately. Because I was with a group we all ate at different times. Server was busy and didn’t check on us that much so I had to get up and request what I needed at the register. Atmosphere was so-so it’s a small place, I have a problem with items being stored in plain sight of customers. Lastly, the place is a bit pricey from the food to the can sodas compared to other dumplings...
