I had an extremely bad experience today. I called in for a pick up at around 7pm and talked to this young girl who is also a server there. With placing my order I requested her to give me my bill so I could bring in exact change and if she can just hand my order to me in the parking lot as I will not be able to leave my car. She gave me the amount for the Mumbai Sandwich toasted and said it will be ready in 45 minutes and please call me when you are here I will bring it out. I had my 5 month old grand kid with me in the car who usually doesn't handle drives very well and sure enough my grand baby threw up as soon as I parked right outside the restaurant. I parked in the handicap parking as that was the closest and convenient spot and I wasn't leaving my car in fact as I called in to let them know that I was outside which was at 8.17pm way over 45 minutes of time given to me for my food to be ready the owner of Bombay Delight answers my call and she tells me your food is not ready. I was very upset and cleaning up my grand child who had just thrown up on asking again that it is way past 45mintes I was given she now very curtly replies saying she has too many customers and this happens sometimes so I will take another 7 to 10 minutes to get your food ready. Once again I reminded her that I am outside and as soon as it is ready or I can call back in 10 minutes to check if it is ready if someone can bring it out and give me my package and collect the money for the same. Rude would be an understatement with the way she reacted now telling me she is shorthanded and has nobody who can bring it outside and if I cannot go in to pick up then leave it and she hung up on me. This is very uncouth behavior. Customer service has been a very general problem at this restaurant and she is absolutely ill mannered. She being a women should at least have the courtesy to ask or know why I am requesting for my parcel to be brought outside. Waiting in the parking lot I could very well see as much crowd as there was any one server could easily just step out to hand me my food. I will never want to go back to this uncivilized attitude woman's restaurant and discourage all my friends...
Read moreWas working by this part of town and on a time crunch so called in to order their chicken biryani to-go based on the good reviews here. 8 min later, i arrived and came directly to the counter where a young man was helping an indecisive woman place an order. Saw my order already bagged on the counter beside him, ready to be picked up but he didn't even acknowledge me. Guy gave a quick glance my way, then focused on the woman while we all stood around waiting and waiting while she went over the menu, me just pacing behind her. When someone clearly indecisive holds up the line while the person behind them appears to be in a rush to pay, an observant and discerning staff would politely ask the detainer to step aside to continue deciding, while he briefly helps ring up the person behind to complete that transaction and have them on their way. This didn't happen so a good 5-8 minutes passed before he got to me. Luckily i remembered to ask about forks because they weren't packed with food either.
After the delay, I had hoped the the food would make up for the awkwardly poor customer service but alas. The dish was ok but room temperature by the time i got back. Much smaller portion than typical and contained far less chicken to rice ratio. The round aluminum tray of food i received is usually $8-9 elsewhere by SW, not $10.99 before tax like here.
Overall 1st (and last) impression: overpriced, small portion, little meat, mostly rice, and bad...
Read moreWe ordered at the counter and waited for our food and the food came and then we realized a naan bread was missing, we placed a second order for two naans. The middle-aged woman at the counter took the order and headed to the kitchen to inform the chef.
When she returned, my wife asked if we could modify the order to just one naan. The woman responded condescendingly, 'You need to make a decision.' I clarified that we had initially ordered the naan, but she denied it, saying, 'You did not.' When I reiterated that we had indeed ordered it, she retorted with disdain, 'Do you want me to cancel the order?' - a clear display of her exerting power and control over the situation, rather than resolving the issue or showing any empathy.
The exchange left us feeling disrespected and undervalued, like we were begging for their service rather than being valued customers. It was a stark reminder of the power imbalance in the service industry, where customers are often made to feel like they need the business more than the business needs them.
Lamb Curry was good but the chicken vindaloo was a letdown. The chicken in the vindaloo was overcooked, hard, and dry.
This experience highlights the need for improved customer service training . The staff, particularly the middle-aged woman at the counter, requires coaching on active listening, empathy, and conflict resolution. Until then, we will think twice...
