RAMADAN IFTAR BUFFET REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Restaurant Name 📍MAI COLACHI📍

MAI COLACHI IS AN OG IN THE SUGARLAND FINE DINNING SCENE. THEY HAVE VASTLY UNDERRATED DISHES AND SERVICE. I STOPPED BY TO CHECK OUT THEIR RAMADAN IFTAR BUFFET.

IFTAR HAS PAKORA,SAMOSAS, ROH AFZA AND DATES .

PAPDI CHAAT HAD A TASTE OF PICO DE GALLO MUST BE THE LATIN INFLUENCE IN THE KITCHEN . SOLID APPETIZER.

LAHORI FISH IS ALWAYS GOOD HERE. GREAT CRISPINESS ALL AROUND AND GOEST WELL WITH THEIR SIGNATURE CHUTNEY.

TROPICAL CHICKEN !!! THIS ONE WAS A HOME RUN. VERY DELICIOUS TANGINESS AND ITS LIKE A SPICIER VERSION OF GENERAL TSO WITH AN AMAZING KICK 10/10

CHICKEN MAKHNI HANDI, ALWAYS DELICIOUS. MAI COLACHI IS KNOWN FOR THEIR CREAMY HANDI DISHES

CHICKEN CHILI. THIS ONE WAS A PASS FOR ME , A LITTLE TOO BLAND FOR MY TASTE

PESHWARI KARAHI WAS DELICIOS, COULD USE SOME MORE GINGER FOR THAT KARAHI KICK

MUTTON SINDHI BIRYANI WAS SOLID 7/10 , THE RICE THEY USE IS DIFFERENT THEN THE LONG GRAIN. SPICE LEVEL WAS GREAT. PERHAPS ITS THE STYLE BUT I DO FEEL LIKE THE MASALA NEEDS THAT APRICOT TANGINESS TO MELLOW OUT THE STAR ANISE. VERY AROMATIC .

BEEF SEEKH KABOB WAS VERY DELICIOUS AND I LOVE THE WAY IT HOLDS TOGETHER AND GOES WELL WITH THE NEXT ITEM

FLAKY CRISPY FRY PARATHA! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. MAI COLACHI FRY PARATHA IS RIVALING( COULD BE OUTDOING IN MY OPINION BUNDU KHAN PARATHA) IF YOU DON'T BELEIVE ME CHECK IT OUT.

CHICKEN TIKKA, FRESHLY COOKED BATCH IS GREAT. ORDERING EXTRA SPICY TO GO IS EVEN BETTER . MAI COLACHI IS FOCUSING THEIR EFFORTS ON THEIR BBQ AND IT SHOWS. THEY ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO BEING CROWNED PAKISTANI BBQ KINGS SOON

GAJAR KA HALWA AND SUJI HALWA. BLOWN AWAY. WITH THE FRY PARATHA THIS IS JUST NEXT LEVEL BBQ AND I WILL REPEAT IT AGAIN BUNDU KHAN HAS FIERCE COMPETITION .

THEIR CHUTNEY AND RAITA ARE A LIL THICKER HERE , BUT IN ALL HONESTLY THIS RESTAURANT IS DOING ALL THE RIGHT THINGS!

ALOO CHAANA TARKARI . IT IS GREAT TO GET ALOO TARKARI , BUT ALOO + CHANAA IS JUST A HEAVENLY COMBINATION . PERFECT SEASONING AND THAT PEPPER KICK GIVES THE MEAL SOME GREAT DELICIOUS HOMEMADE CARBS / PROTEIN

NAAN HERE WAS VERY FLAKY AND DELICIOUS . SUPER HOT AND FRESH FOR A BUFFET

CHAI WAS PRETTY AVERAGE .

WATER WAS GOOD TOO

I DIDNT TRY THE SALADS, HERB RICE OR THE LEMONADE AND OTHER DRINKS OFFERED IN BUFFET.

OVERALL THIS BUFFET WAS WELL WORTH THE PRICE.

MY RECOMMENDATIONS IS TO COME ON A MONDAY OR A TUESDAY . YOU GET TO ENJOY THE RESTAURANT A LOT MORE AND DESPITE IT BEING A SLOWER DAY THERE IS A TON OF STAFF ON STAND BY . SWEETA THE WAITRESS, THE OWNER WERE ALSO VERY NICE AS ALWAYS.

As someone who comes from a culinary family and has years of experience in fine dining management across Houston, I can confidently say that Mai Colachi offers one of the most remarkable dining environments I’ve ever encountered. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was struck by the attention to detail—from the warm, welcoming ambiance to the beautifully curated interior that blends cultural charm with modern elegance.

My dining experience at Mai Colachi was nothing short of exceptional. The service was professional, attentive, and genuine without being overbearing. Every course that arrived at our table was thoughtfully presented and bursting with flavor. The balance of spices, the freshness of ingredients, and the authenticity of the cuisine reminded me of home-cooked meals elevated to a fine dining level. It’s rare to find a restaurant where each dish tells a story, but Mai Colachi does it effortlessly.

What truly sets them apart is not just their excellence in the dining room, but their ability to bring that same quality and consistency to large-scale catering.

I was so impressed with my initial experience that I reached out to Mai Colachi to cater my sister’s wedding—a significant and deeply personal event for our family. From the very beginning, the coordination and planning process was seamless. Their team took the time to understand our needs, preferences, and cultural traditions, offering guidance and creative input to help shape a menu and experience that would reflect the importance of the occasion.

On the day of the wedding, they delivered flawlessly. Everything—from the setup to the service—was professional and beautifully executed. The food was a standout element of the entire evening, with guests repeatedly complimenting the variety, taste, and presentation. Each dish was served hot, fresh, and with the same standard I experienced at the restaurant. It’s no easy task to maintain that level of quality when catering for a large group, but Mai Colachi did it with precision and heart.

Whether you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience or a dependable, high-caliber catering service for a special event, Mai Colachi is a name you can trust. They don’t just serve food—they deliver an experience rooted in passion, heritage, and hospitality.

NOT A PAID REVIEW ,

I’m a pure Desi born and raised in spice business in Karachi and moved to USA 11yrs ago 🤣

Highly...

edit Nov 6th 2022: Got their Vanilla soda with orange crush, passion delight (bit sugary), Jamaican jammer (good as meal substitute shake )and sweet lassi (perfect )for drinks. For starters their chicken lollipops were kkkrisppy. like Korean fried chicken crispy. good stuff. Their Tropical chicken starter is our favorite. I get it all the time. it has a bit of peppery heat. if you want to eat light. just get this..and you are good. For mains, i got lost in their long list of karahis. Ended up with balouchi karachi. it was tomato based and tomato was king..in the dish. Owner stopped by and offered Shinwari karahi. Now that was more like it. Julienned ginger, green chillies, and the wok 'hay' was present. I get how some folks may not like the rich and raw karahi and prefer more tomato based "I call them Campbell soup edition". Overall Mai Colachi has something for everyone. Your guests will not be disappointed. Marking this place as a favorite here forth. old post(year ago) Decided to try the indo-Chinese menu here. the kolachi chicken chilli was good. the sauce was light and the chicken was delicate. Tropical chicken has a sweet molassy sauce. The chicken in it got caramelized and chewy but the portion was huge for an appetizer. Fried rice was dry and peppery style. I like mine with some fish sauce, and the rice glistening with wok oil (* I don't mind msg either). Anyhow for a place that's exclusive to Pakistani cuisine this was a pretty decent effort. If you see a wok in a pakistani restaurant, it's typically reserved for karahi. I hear good things about karahi here, which I will try on next visit. The place has a pretty cool sanitizer as soon as you enter and it takes your temp as well. sanitizer on the tables as well. Low lit ambiance and some pretty chill music playing in the back. Service was great. Will be back.

My first impression walking in is a great impression. The ambiance and decor is very classy, with care put in on how the restaurant looks. Even the bathrooms were very clean and beautiful. I think they have done a wonderful job with the atmosphere, and my pictures don’t do it justice. By the time I walked in our group had already ordered, so I’m not sure what the exact items on the menu were but I’ll give my overall impression. The first items to come in were the naan(8/10), beef behari kabob (8/10), and the peshawari karahi(10/10). All three were excellent. Naan was fresh and excellently cooked, the kabobs soft, aromatic, and delicious. What really stood out was the karahi. It had the perfect balance of chicken and sauce, while the flavors were also perfectly balanced and packed a punch with every bite. Next was the nehari, which was a 7.5/10. I have pretty high standards but I loved the flavor and there was a good amount of beef. The sauce was also nice and thick. My only criticisms were the lack of a strong impacting taste and the nehari was a little cold upon arrival. Next we had the chicken malai boti, which is a 6.5/10. I’m not a big fan of malai boti, but I just thought there wasn’t a lot of flavor. The chicken kabobs were 3/10 for me as they were tasteless, and the biryani was a 6/10 as it was dry and there wasn’t enough masala. The service was amazing. They were very friendly and food was served very quickly. Overall, I had a great time and I will definitely come back here. This is an easy 5 stars 1/10: horrible 2/10: bad 3/10: below average 4/10: slightly below average 5/10: average 6/10: slightly above average 7/10: above average 8/10: good 9/10: really good 10/10: excellent
