We waited an hour to get a table...mind you, it was Father's day, so that wasn't too much of a problem. When we DID get seated, the tables were wet and sticky; I mean, they could've hit them with a towel that wasn't soaking wet. We ordered: she had two of the five signature melts with fries, I took the chicken and avocado club, also with fries and ordered lemonade, mine regular, hers huckleberry. The waiter brought our drinks ten minutes later, but walked off with our straws, so we had to wait until he served another table and come back before we could taste our drinks. My regular lemonade was okay, but her huckleberry lemonade had a splash of some red substance that she couldn't distinguish, as if it were food coloring and not fruit flavor....AND, the only allowed us one refill, which wasn't cool, considering it took them an hour to bring our food. It was a packed house, and the venue is very small...i kept wondering why people who were seated long after us were already eating, and considered leaving. The waiters must have knew they were in the wrong, because they wouldn't make eye contact as they walked past numerous times with no explanation as to why three sandwiches were taking so long to make. When the food came, it was good, but by then we had had enough of the whole Black Bear experience, not to mention they were acting as if we were taking to long to eat despite our waiting an hour for our meal without complaining once...and I know it was a whole hour because my wife watched an entire episode of "Shots Fired" on her phone while we waited. All in all, I could've went to the McDonalds nearby and been more satisfied. Plus, I would've paid way less, and that would've made my father's day more amazing than the time I spent at the Black Bear diner. Oh yeah, and the kid at the register didn't know how to use a credit card and kept coming back saying the card was declined until his co-worker took over and did his job for him. I worry about...
Read moreOur experience went from dine in to take out here at Black Bear Diner in Suisun City, CA. My family went there for brunch and got there around 11:30ish. Walked in and there was no one at the front. After few minutes of waiting, we were acknowledged... and waited another few minutes. We are finally greated by someone and seated. We looked over the menu and someone came over to get our drinks. The person is dressed like a bus boy and not a waiter, but okay... it's just drinks. He must be helping out. We got our drinks. The sweet tea is overloaded with sugar that we added water to make it drinkable. We ended up making our food order to the same person... then we waited. We been waiting so long that a person in charge came over and asked if she got our order. We said yes, "he" got our order. She said "oh, okay" and moved on. As we waited so long, I started to feel sleepy. We are done waiting at this point and asked about our food and changed it to have it to go. Waited more and he came back to verify that we wanted it to go. We said yes please. Waited again. The food finally came out in a one big bag, with the check to pay. Which I did and added a little tip. Came home and found one of the main food order is missing. Drove back to get it and had to wait again. They verified my order and asked what type of toast, I said wheat bread. The host said just waiting for the toast. He finally came out with the food in a bag and placed it inside the first bag. I came home and got the food out so everyone can eat. NO toast in the bag. It is now 1:00pm and just started eating. Forget the toast and also... forget this place. We are not going back to Black Bear Diner. So many...
Read moreWe stopped in for a quick breakfast on Sunday morning about 10 am. We should have realized this might not be the place to eat when there was nobody was waiting and Black Bear Diners always have people waiting on weekend mornings. We probably will never go back to this place. Nobody was at the hostess stand when we walked in, she strolled up looking like we were annoying her. Not a hello or good morning and I'm not sure she even said anything until we said 2 and she asked table or booth. That job is probably not the job for her and she should find another one. She seated us and we waited for our server after maybe 5 minutes he came to get our coffee and water order and then disappeared. After may 15-20 minutes he appeared from the back with a tray full of drinks for another table. Then strolled by us and said oh you guys wanted 2 coffees and water right, here's 1 coffee. I'll take your order and bring the other coffee and water. He disappeared again but this time came back in about 2 minutes. We waited for probably close to 20 minutes for our bacon and eggs and biscuits and gravy. Keep in mind they were NOT BUSY AT ALL. Finally our food came from someone other than our waiter, who we never saw again after he brought our coffee. I had ordered the 2 eggs and bacon with sourdough bread. There was only 1 egg, my bread was on the plate on top of the hash browns and the bread was soggy with butter. Normally the bread comes on a separate plate. No one came by to see how our food was or if everything was okay. When we were finished we had to ask for our tag. We could not get out of there...
