Grape Street Café review
I have a gift certificate from the Grape Street Café located at 2120 Festival Plaza Drive #160 in Las Vegas, NV so, off to lunch my wife and I went. She ordered a glass of Grand Courtage wine to go with her Roasted Vegetable sandwich. I ordered an Opaque Zinfandel to pair with my Blackened Salmon entrée.
Grape Street Café, is designed for casual dress, was bright and clean. Serving time was a little slow considering the café was only about ½ full. The food delivered was perfectly prepared and nicely plated, each with a generous serving. Whomever set the table didn’t recognize the difference between a salad fork and a dinner fork. I had one of each, correctly placed. My wife had two salad forks.
We were seated in the rear section of the café, which I’m guessing was sometimes used for private parties as it had a floor to ceiling curtain that was halfway across the room. It could have been pleasant but the table next to us was covered with dirty plates for the first 20 minutes of our visit and was also being used to store a pile of menus. Next to that on the floor were several stacks of boxes, possibly inventory stock waiting to be put away. At the other end of the curtain was a tall ladder leaning against a cabinet giving the room the feel of a storage room.
Three ladies at the table next to us on the other side had finished their lunch and left. Their dirty plates remained on the table for the balance of our meal which was another 20 minutes. I finished my meal and had about half of my wine to finish. The waiter brought us our bill leaving the dirty plates in front of us, where they remained until sometime after we left, about 15 minutes later.
Then when I tried to pay for the $75 lunch the waiter came back to the table and informed me that due to a computer system change, they would not be able to honor their gift card.
What could have been a very nice lunch ended up with well prepared food, slow service, dirty dishes on tables all around, a dining area that was being used as a storage room and a refused gift card due to a computer change.
UPDATE 2-15-24
Went back to Grape Street Wine Bar today for lunch and I had the Chicken Piccata (Free-range chicken breast cutlets, leek mashed potatoes, asparagus, lemon caper butter sauce). The plate was flooded with a runny, very lemon butter sauce that overpowered the chicken and even the capers. The chicken cutlets however were cooked perfectly the leek mashed potatoes were spot on and the asparagus was cooked to perfection.
My wife ordered a Barbecue Chicken (BBQ sauce, caramelized onions, smoked gouda, mozzarella, scallions) which she described as outstanding.
The tables this time were all cleaned and ready for their next guests. The food was served quickly and plated nicely.
And if you choose your waitress, asked for Alexa. Perhaps one of the best servers I have had in a very long time.
The person who sets the tables still does it poorly which is sad for a restaurant that serves a salmon plate for $31.00. Seems that whatever size spoon or fork is at hand is the one you will be given. You might get two salad forks and the person next to you will have a salad fork and a dinner fork. You may have a dessert spoon and the person next to you will have a soup spoon. One employee says the owner does first setting on Wednesdays and doesn't care what the customers get as long as they have two forks, a knife and a spoon. Sad.
My scores dropped the food quality from a five to a four but increased the service from a...
Read moreI wish I had a better experience at this place. I went into Grape Street instead of Reggiano and I regret that I didn't choose the latter. I came in through the side door and no one greeted me. It was quite busy and there was entertainment (by a singer who didn't have the best voice - I thought it was karaoke at first). I wasn't sure whether I should seat myself, but I found the host stand. After a few minutes a gentleman seated me. A young blonde lady that I assumed was a hostess came out with menus and said, "Here you go." I thanked her and she didn't say, "You're welcome." She didn't smile and I didn't like her attitude. I almost walked out, but Reggiano was a little more out of my budget. I wanted to have a nicer meal than fast food at Bonnano's or something more casual like Skinnyfats, so I stayed.
Homer came by to greet me, but he sat down to introduce himself, which was kind of odd. He asked if I wanted anything to drink and I said it depended on what pasta I would have with my wine. He said he would give me a few minutes, but he never came back. Roman came to check on me and asked if Homer had come by. I said yes. More time went by and I found myself confused about who was my waiter because it was taking too long to order after I received my bread. Roman came back and asked if I had any questions. I said I was ready to order and he described the specials. I decided upon the penne alla vodka with shrimp and a caesar salad.
The bread was okay. The salad didn't have enough croutons, but it was decent. I thought the pasta was going to have whole shrimps, but it was just small pieces that were chopped up (and it cost an additional $7.00 to add that). Even though that was also decent, I was disappointed. The bread pudding dessert was good. I wanted the tiramisu, but they were out. The glass of white wine I had was very good.
I wish I took pictures of my food, but I didn't think to do so. Although Roman was friendly and did his best, I wanted to treat myself and I felt like I had overpaid for what I received. I only ate because I was hungry, and left unsatisfied. I debated whether or not to leave this review, but I sincerely hope the management takes the negative reviews seriously if they want to improve. I would not return unless it was to have a drink at the bar, not for the food.
Not a great way to start the New Year, but it...

As a Vegas local, I have come here for many years. Tonight we were in the area and wanted to have a quick bite to eat/ mini date night.
We just missed happy hour so we had to look at the menu a little longer to see what other options they had.
Right off the bat, the hostess seemed annoyed with a "can I help you look". After looking at the menu, we decided to look at the place across the way to compare menus.
We decided Grape Street. When we came back the hostess literally said "oh your back". I was a little bit stunned by her rudeness but I decided to ignore it. We took a look at the menu one last time and asked if we could dine on the patio. She said yes and that they would just have to set up the table.
When we went out I noticed it was a tabletop set for four, and that there was a two top table tucked away in the corner. I went back and asked her if it would be okay to take the table for two. She looked very annoyed and said yeah that's fine. Then she followed us back out and I told my husband that it was okay to move. I told him it was okay he didn't need to grab the menu but I guess that made her annoyed because she rolled her eyes and turned around and pick them up anyways. I thought the wine menu was already at the other table.. she puts the menu on the table for two and walks off.
We sat there for 15+ minutes. Plenty of servers walked by, tables were bussed and reset nearby.. not a single hello, or can I get you a drink Anything.. we already knew exactly what we were going to order- Spaghetti, salad and a bottle of red wine..
Coming from the restaurant industry, I knew that this was completely unacceptable. Definitely not the Vegas hospitality that once was. I am truly disappointed because this was always a favorite place of mine that I would recommend to family and friends coming into town.
This was 6:30, Tuesday night, April 22nd. I did not catch the name of the hostess, but she was a petite blonde- possibly...
