I had some time to spare while getting my phone repaired at the Apple store. Like always, I was craving something sweet, so I was pleasantly surprised to come across this bakery. I would have to say it's probably every little girl's fantasy - the interior is on point. Decorated like you're walking into a castle with the bright white lights that shine down onto the display cases of baked goodies and soft fluffy clouds on the ceiling's wallpaper, it's almost impossible to leave without buying something if you're with a little kiddo. There's also shelves of random items (decorations, toys, candy, etc.) that you can buy as well.
This place also offers princess parties if you want to host a birthday or gettogether. Prices are not cheap though, but I can definitely see them being fun!
Besides cupcakes, they also sell cakes, cake pops, macaron ice cream sandwiches, cookies, chocolate goodies. Some items are way overpriced though - one chocolate covered strawberry sold for $4.95!
Since my cousin ended up choosing the cupcake that I wanted - Creamy Dreamy (chocolate cake with cream cheese buttercream) - I ended up going with the strawberry cupcake instead. Strawberry buttercream with a vanilla cupcake. I thought that the cupcake was just okay - the buttercream was light and creamy and had good strawberry flavor, which I enjoyed. The cake was not dry or crumbly, but soft and quite moist. I just think the $3.75 price point for each cupcake is way too pricey, especially since there's nothing too memorable about the cake.
My cousin said she liked her chocolate cupcake - and it did look pretty tasty. My niece wanted to buy a cupcake topper to put on top of the cupcake, but the pricing was quite high. I suppose to accommodate the rent at Summerlin, they have to raise prices quite high. Unfortunately, the cupcakes didn't wow me.
tl;dr - Just okay cupcakes at a very high price. Nothing too special. Don't think I'll return. Workers were...
Read moreToday was my second trip to Wonderland Bakery. The first trip was an EPIC FAIL! My best friend was in town and we decided to try some of their cupcakes after a day of shopping. All of the cupcakes were dry in the middle and the tops were hard. The frosting tasted like it came out of a can from a grocery store or some mass distributed commercial food company. I can't remember all the cupcakes we tried on the first trip but I do remember their version of red velvet, black and white, german chocolate, all vanilla, all chocolate and I don't remember the rest. I vowed to never eat these nasty cupcakes again.
Today I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt and give them another chance since the first time I tried them was shortly after they opened. Well, let's just say they definitely won't get my business again. I bought another red velvet and a german chocolate cupcake. The only thing good I can say about the cupcakes this time, is the inside of them were moist but the outsides were definitely hard.
Now for my biggest critique, as a Southern Belle who was born and raised in Charleston, SC, these people should be ashamed to even think their "red velvet" cupcake is even close to what a red velvet cupcake should taste like. You can't taste the cream cheese in the frosting and the cake has no flavor what so ever. Their products don't taste fresh to me, they taste processed from a box and a can.
My advice to anyone who wants a cupcake on whim, read the advice from yelpers and go...
Read moreI couldn't have been more pleased with Wonderland Bakery. We recently had a birthday party here for my little godchild and the decor, the service, the food and everything was perfect. I loved the whimsical feel of the place and everyone was so very nice about everything. I read the other reviews before I posted mine and it's like I went to an entirely different place. The birthday room wasn't made for a large scale birthday party but a small gathering of ten of her friends to decorate cookies, sing and dance with Rapunzel, get cute art on their arms and faces. I took a gander at their business products too which were something I definitely might look into having had such a positive experience. The goodie bags they put together for the party were cherished by the attendees. It made for a really memorable event for not only the birthday girl but her guests. Keep up the good work! Oh and the Rapunzel they referred was soo good. She was so interactive with the kids and we loved the face painter too (uber talented). You can tell I'm just giddy with joy about...
