Food is great. Ambiance also great. What's not so great is the customer service. I called this restaurant because the last time I was there, a woman named Janice Sands was singing. My husband and I were on a date and found the entire setting to be very romantic. The outdoor space added a good ambiance too, like a European cafe where you can enjoy a meal by candlelight while watching people stroll by. But a large part of what added to the experience and setting was the entertainment. Janice had this beautiful and classic quality that I really enjoyed and between sets, she would go around to different tables and say hello. It almost felt like Old Vegas from the movies. It was a great night!
Fast forward a few weeks later and I call the restaurant to ask them when Janice Sands will be performing next. The hostess places me on hold, and returns a few minutes later to tell me that Janice is scheduled for that upcoming Saturday. I make plans to take my husband on a date: do some walking around and end up the restaurant to enjoy another beautiful, romantic evening. We show up on Saturday and Janice is not there. We ask the host, and she goes and grabs a manager who informs us that Janice is not scheduled to sing there at all. We ask why but get no response. So when I ask why I was informed over the phone that she would be there, the manager says that whomever I spoke with must have been confused. The manager leaves and we see our waiter from the last time we ate. I ask him why they are not booking Janice since we loved her so much. He tells me that he does not know, but that a lot of people have been asking for Janice but the owner, or whoever books the talent, does not book her. The question of why remains unanswered as it sounds like I'm not the only one inquiring after her. I also annoyed that someone misinformed me. I got the feeling that when I called to ask and was placed on hold by the hostess, whomever she spoke with either told her a lie, or told her to just tell me something to get me off the phone. What still irritates me is that whomever the hostess spoke to must have known Janice was not being booked for upcoming evenings but had her inform me otherwise.
Suffice to say, we took our business elsewhere that evening. The idea that the hostess lied to me was ridiculous. With so many decent restaurants at DT Summerlin, the one draw this one has is the outdoor space where you can listen to live entertainment. I should not have to feel tricked into eating a restaurant by staff that does not want to bring back local favorites.
Bring back Janice Sands! And at the very least, do not...

Let me start by saying that the service was not great. I don't know if our server was having a bad night but they were very short with us and didn't really seem interested in us at all. I could go into more detail, but I can sum it up by saying our entire experience was like an episode of the office, and we felt awkward the entire time.
The food however was mostly great. The garlic knots are fine, but they're more like mall food and I don't entirely understand why they chose to serve these. They're not bad, they're just kind of lazy. The balsamic dip that was served with the knots did not compliment them at all.
The carpaccio was quite amazing, and it was the best one I've had that I can remember. I mean, it was really great. Great balance of acidity, horseradish and salt to compliment the normal carpaccio accoutrements and most of all, delicious fresh beef.
The panzanella salad was fresh, vibrant, well dressed and had great proportions. Plenty of fresh Parmigiano and basil leaves really gave it a very luxurious flavor.
My wife ordered the carbanara. It was not great. It's a tough dish to make right. It was already congealed and lumpy upon arrival. The flavor was average in a decent way and the pancetta was well prepared. Overall, it was just heavy and broken without being smooth or creamy at all.
I ordered the shrimp scampi pasta and it was amazing! Everything about it was perfect. The sauce was light but had just enough body and flavor. The pasta was not perfect al dente, but it had a good slightly firm integrity to it. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and seasoned. If I had one suggestion, the stuffing could have been less dry, but it was delicious nonetheless.
Our server brought the check before we could even consider dessert, so we wouldn't know how that is, haha.
Look, overall I feel like I CAN recommend this restaurant. I want to think that we just came on an off night and we will consider giving it another try. The things that were great were truly great, and the things that weren't can be fixed. I wish I could give more than three stars but I really think it's the right and fair rating based on...

Listen, I don’t know what kind of magic they’re working back there in the kitchen, but the pasta at Trattoria Reggiano is the kind of stuff that makes you question all your life choices. Like, why have I wasted so many years eating subpar noodles when this exists?
Let’s set the scene: It’s Valentine’s Day. The restaurant is packed, love is in the air (along with the aroma of garlic and butter), and despite the chaos, our waitress, Alejandra, is handling business like a seasoned pro (pun fully intended). Attentive, friendly, and never letting our drinks run dry—she’s the kind of waitress that restaurants wish they could clone.
Speaking of drinks… yeah, they’re a little meh. Small, overpriced, and on the syrupy side. The beer? A little flat, like it had given up on life before it even reached my glass. But hey, I wasn’t there for the drinks—I was there for the pasta.
And oh my God, the pasta. My wife had the Penne alla Vodka, and I swear, I caught her looking at it the way she used to look at me before we got married. Creamy, rich, perfectly balanced—it was a masterpiece. But then, there was my dish. The Wild Boar Fettuccine. I don’t know where they got this boar, but if it was still alive, I would personally shake its hoof and thank it for its service. The sauce? Deep, meaty, complex. The fettuccine? Homemade and authentic, the kind of pasta that slaps you in the face and says, “This is how it’s done, kid.”
One thing that really stood out was the manager (or owner? Head honcho of the pasta empire?), who wasn’t just lurking in the shadows—she was out there. Walking around, checking on tables, helping her staff. You don’t see that often, and it made the whole place feel like it was run by people who genuinely care about the experience.
Would I go back? Absolutely. I’ve been thinking about that pasta ever since. Would I avoid the cocktails? Maybe. But if you’re looking for a legit Italian spot in Summerlin where the pasta is so good it should be illegal, this is the place.
Just maybe...
