Extremely Disappointed – Not Worth the Price
Oh my goodness — this has been one of the most disappointing hotel stays I’ve experienced, especially for the price I paid. I expected quality, comfort, and at the very least, basic amenities. What I got felt more like a condemned Super 8 that had long since been forgotten.
To begin with, there is no way to get a simple canned soda. You’re forced to buy overpriced fountain drinks — which, to my frustration, were completely flat. That alone says a lot about attention to detail. And no microwave in the room? That meant having to bring in food from outside with no way to warm it up — something that turns a relaxing night into an unpleasant chore.
Even more surprising: there were no phones in the room. Trying to schedule a wake-up call was more difficult than it should ever be in a hotel of this supposed standard. The room felt low-maintenance, outdated, and poorly equipped overall. It’s clear the amenities have not been maintained with care or concern for guest experience.
To be fair, the water was hot — very hot — and the staff I encountered were genuinely kind and professional. They were the only bright part of the stay. But even great service can’t overcome an environment that clearly reflects an ownership team that is not client-facing or hospitality-focused.
This place does not feel like a hotel. It feels like an afterthought. I came close to sleeping in my car just to escape the disappointment.
This is not a place I’d recommend, and I definitely won’t be returning. Very unfortunate, especially for a hotel in New Jersey that should — and could — do so much better.
With three more days to go, I’ve never been more happy to...

Upon arrival, we were not informed how to reach the front desk, and since there was no in-room telephone, I had to go down personally to request a bar of soap, of which there were none in the room. The room lacked basic amenities such as note paper and a pen, and although it was tidy, the furnishings were sparse and did not reflect the standard suggested by the property’s presentation.
Additionally, while the bathroom was clean, the door showed visible signs of wear — including chipped paint — and did not close properly.
In summary, the stay was adequate in cleanliness but underwhelming in comfort, amenities, and attention to detail. With improved communication, better in-room provisions, and some maintenance updates, the Albion could offer a much more satisfactory guest experience.
I hope this feedback is helpful and taken in the spirit intended — to assist management in enhancing future guests' comfort and overall experience.
PS: Except for a very, very good coffee machine, the breakfast offering was unacceptable. It offered a few poorly cooked pastries and fresh fruit salad, but it had some parsley-looking garnish. Yuck. There was no cereal and no toast. The cold breakfast variety at a motel is better, so I walked to a...
Read moreI am sorry to say, my overnight at the Albion was a huge disappointment and I will not be returning. I am 75 yrs old and travel with a fairly heavy canvas bag. There is no one out in front to welcome guests and open doors. As noted previously, the front desk is 'lost' in the razzle, dazzled front entrance. While checking in, I questioned why there is no help with managing guests luggage. As soon as I stepped off the elevator on the third floor, the strong smell of bleach was obvious. I won't even waste space relaying the debacle with reassigning a room for me. The guest rooms have been renovated but the workmanship is shoddy. The breakfast pastries, I don't even know what to say about them. I did not see anyone posted at the coffee bar although one woman I stopped, was nice enough to get me sugar. The Albion is in an upscale area and needs to bump up it's game. Employees should wear 'uniforms' to distinguish them from guests. Khakis and polo shirts perhaps? Managers need jackets and ties.I know it is challenging finding help these days, but guests should not have to fend for themselves. The contemporary decorating, sadly, has camouflaged the charm of the building we all knew. The array of tables in the dining area is cold and impersonal. There are many hotel options in the area and I for one, will be taking my...
