Piattino: A Neighborhood Bistro — Restaurant in Summit

Thought the interior and decor were very nice. Food was really yummy enjoyed everything. However the service was peculiar. Walked in at 1:30pm on Sunday. Only two other tables in the restaurant however we waited near the host stand for a minute or two, even though the female employee was standing right there she didn’t acknowledge or greet us at all. Another server then sat us and waited on us. After 10 minutes the other two tables had left, leaving us the only remaining table in the restaurant. Our server was good however no sense of urgency. Throughout the entire meal the one other female employee who I assume to be the bartender just stood behind the bar applying coats of lipgloss while two separate groups of tables waited at the host stand.

We sat and watched as the only other table about 10-15 people total crowding the front door while the one female bartender completely ignored the patiently waiting guests. Once she finished applying second coat of lipgloss she walked from behind the bar, through the crowd of waiting guests and into some employee door next to the host stand.I would have walked out if I were one of the guests waiting being blantanly ignored. We tried this restaurant last summer & it was great. Service, food, decor... everything was on great... so much so that when we finished our meals, we actually ordered items for take out before leaving. Unfortunately it was a very different experience on New Year Eve (& we had an early reservation-arriving @ 5:45p) 😖. Of the 4 courses we ordered, the only items we enjoyed was the littleneck app & the $90 glass of wine! The rabbit pasta dish ordered was flavorless... it appeared that no seasonings were used. Quite the opposite from when we ordered this same dish last summer. The tapas ordered was decent, however the meatballs tasted as though the were pre-prepped, placed in the freezer, pulled from the freezer & then cooked while not properly defrosted before being cooked! The meatballs were so hard that they couldn't be sliced through with your fork. We had to use our knifes to eat them. Each of us had a quarter of our meatballs because they were so unappealing. We were truly dissatisfied & disappointed which is sad considering the service & decor...

Only been here second time yesterday with my girlfriend. The first time was the week before with my family. Keep your Chef please? I know what great food is and this place serves really good Italian food. Usually, if it’s not good , we won’t finish our meal. Last week, my husband and my daughter - their plates were empty and so was mine ! Customer service was great on both times. I don’t mind giving 20% or more for tip when customer service is as excellent as this place.

I was here last night with my neighbor. 9/19/21. My daughter ordered the duck, she said it’s ok but she was expecting more than ok. Service is always great here. I just hope next time when you do serve wine, you bring the bottle and pour it my glass and not bring a little jug or glass to transfer it to my wine glass.
