I must mention that my rating has nothing to do with the service, which is terrible typically (I've had a delivery driver tell me that they could not walk up the stairs and to come down to meet her). It has nothing to do with the quality of the food, which is abhorrently inconsistent. It has nothing to do with the average wait time being about an hour and a half to three hours for delivery.
My review is based on an experience I had today. I pulled up to the establishment around 6:05 P.M. I promptly checked the app and saw my order was ready. I walked inside and was greeted to eight clearly unhappy customers. Each customer's frown was respective to the amount of time that they had already been waiting.
An older woman approached the counter and inquired as to when her order would be ready as the tracker showed it was finished an hour ago. Keep in mind, this is a Monday, the sixth of July to be precise. The manager tried her best explain the delay. Something about there being a sudden influx of orders and how they were preventing new orders in order to cater to the old ones. The older woman was sated, at least for the moment, and thanked the manager for the explanation.
I looked over to the rack where the completed orders usually are and noticed a rather copious amount of unclaimed pizzas. Behind the rack I can see into the kitchen where they prepare the pizza to be boxed. I can only describe it as a science experiment gone awry. With bits of pizza strewn across the assembly line. They began throwing out these rejects, by the buttload, into the nearest trash receptacle.
The older woman from before re-approaches the counter and politely asked for a refund. She does comment on the outrageous wait. I believe her exact words were, "This is ridiculous." Or "this is crazy." Something of that sort. A gentleman behind me then also approached the counter after he discovered his order had been sitting on the rack for only god knows how long. He also requested a refund.
In the midst of this one of the worker's swapped shifts with another worker, which is completely normal. However, the worker who entered had a baby with him and proceeded to hand him to the co-worker who was leaving. I commend their devotion to parenthood as it must not be easy.
Back to my tale, a young woman, another gentleman and I are now the last remnants of the customers who were in the store when I initially entered. I am relatively new to Sumter so; this was a grand time to fraternize with the local flavor. I have found that tragedy or in this case, a long wait can lead to fast friendships. I found the gentleman's comments hilarious and we regaled about the unfortunate situation we found ourselves in. A storm was a brewing as they say, and we were hoping to get home before the rain hit.
After that conservation, the worker that came in with the child I mentioned earlier, let the gentleman I was talking to know his order was coming up. His literal words were, "I got you, bruh." The gentleman and the young girl got their orders. The young girl decided to check out the pizzas on the rack and saw her order had been among them (hopefully not all along.)
The man who had the baby uttered the same reassurance to me and shortly afterward I got my pizza. I thought it was weird that he gave me a white box as the pan pizza is typically stored in a black one. Regardless, I headed to my vehicle ASAP to get back before the storm. I arrived at my place and grabbed the pizza box. The pizza almost fell out of the box entirely. As I was pushing it back into the box, I realized that not only was the box poorly constructed but, the pizza was a regular hand tossed. Luckily, this was a free pizza I earned so; it was not too wasteful.
Despite everything I outlined here, I deeply respect the workers at the Sumter Domino's location. They stayed calm and tried what looked like their best to handle the situation. Even the delivery guys pitched in to assist the kitchen crew. Will I eat there again? Probably not but, I will never forget...
Read moreThis has got to be the worst experience iv ever had at any establishment. The food I received was missing toppings and you could tell it had been an older pizza sitting out that they slid through the oven again. When my wife got back home and I checked our food out I was not impressed but understand things happen. I drove all the way back to the store to be greeted by the most rude employees. âso I asked for a mangerâ. They informed me no manager was on duty so I simply said okay I would just like a refund. They proceeded to tell me nobody in the store could do that and to leave my name and number so I did. After a few days went by I did not get a call so I drove back up to speak with a manger. When I arrived the manager said they did not remember how to do a refund and called the gm â general managerâ. The gm told her to tell me to come back tomorrow at 11am so Iâm like âalrightâ. At that point this manager had a few select words about their gm and was not happy with how they run that store and even said â I really need a new jobâ. So we talked and I left happy because something is at least going to be done so I donât mind waiting. I went up the next day and the gm was the rudest person iv ever encountered running a business. she immediately was standoffish to me raised her voice at me and told me her staff said â I demanded a remake then left and thatâ that is not true at all. I asked for a refund so I could just go on my way. She then told me she would not refund me or even look at the pictures and videos I had taken of the pizza right when we got it. Told me to get the F out of her store âstill with a loud voiceâ while other customers were standing inside. Once again my time was wasted. Luckily after getting ahold of corporate and 2 weeks of waiting I finally received some of my money back and I will never go to that establishment again. I posted the photos with this. you can âclearlyâ tell this pizza is old and we only live 10 mins down the road this was the moment my wife got home with our food. Lesson learned. đ figured I would save others the hassle from ordering from these people. They really need to work on getting...
Read moreThe store called within a short time after I placed my order (of two large specialty pizzas and two lava cakes) to tell me they did not have some of my pizza toppings, and seemed surprised when I asked if one could be substituted for what they did not have, they did say yes but then just hung up. After a moment of surprise, they called back asked if I just wanted the one new topping for the replacement of my customized specialty pizza, so I clarified that I wanted the same pizza I had ordered but I just wanted to change the missing ingredient for an alternative then they said yes and just hung up again. The delivery driver was very polite and made a conscientious point to place the food in a place that made sense when my delivery instructions were hard to follow (because it rained 3 hours after we expected our food). The mobile app said 30-35 minutes for delivery when placed at 6:30, but after 2.5 hours (and more than 1.5 after receiving the text telling me he would be here in 4 minutes), we called the store only to be informed that it could be 5 hours before we saw the driver and food from the order time. Then they backed up to say it may only be another hour from that point though. Blame was given to offices that are âout of the storeâs controlâ and when I stated I saw the tracker online with my food getting cold and going the opposite direction from my house and store, I was told that neither the store or drivers actually have the tracking capability that is made up online. The pizzas were barely warmer than outside weather conditions after the 3.5 hours from ordering and being in a car for 2.5: the molten cake deserts were hard to enjoy as they had gotten cold and grease was soaked through the box completely and not pleasant texture when microwaved making chocolate lava hot inside...
