I preordered 160pcs of dim sun through the phone 3 days before our school event last week. The lady who answered the phone told me to come pick up Sunday morning at 10am with a total of $161.82. And after my pick up guy reached the place on time, he was told by the owner that they can’t find my order and the total would be more than $220 if we get it right way. I spoke with the owner on the phone, he just said: I don’t know who told you is $161, it would be $220 if you buy now and let me know immediately because I have people waiting in line…” His attitude was horrible and instead of asking details from his employees, he was just rudely trying to get me off the phone quickly because he said he has a long line waiting to buy. Since the party was 1hr away, I had no option but to pay whatever he asked for with a pushy, bad attitude. I told him the lady who took my order didn’t speak Chinese as she was the one confirming my order with pickup time. He said:” oh do you want me to speak Chinese to you now? I can do that. I don’t know who you talking about but I am the owner and I’m telling you the total is $220.” In between he told me there’s 10% discount but later changed to 5%. I wished I could record the whole phone conversation, it was the worst customer experience I’ve ever received. I shared this experience with the school event organizers, family and friends, they weren’t very surprised as most Asian shop owners behave like that. Anyway, think twice before you place any order...

Listen, we all know the best dim sum is in SF. Of course, to get it, you'll have to drive to the city, find parking, navigate all these reviews, and you'll end up paying SF prices for dim sum, eventually, that will be really good, all things considered.
Or, you can get quality dim sum, freshly made, that's not overly greasy at a local restaurant, served by friendly staff, with lots of variety from steamed, baked, and fried dim sum to other Chinese dishes... But like, we always just get lots of dim sum, for example:
We spent about $35 today and ended up with 6 har gow, 6 sui mai, 3 chive and shrimp, 3 steamed and 3 baked BBQ pork buns, and a crispy shrimp ball (which was the best and I wish I got more of those) plus 2 egg tarts, 2 red bean and mochi filled sesame balls, and a red bean mochi ball (sprinkled with coconut).
Now, is there better dim sum out there? Probably. Is it as easily accessible? Affordable? Satisfying? No.
Din Tai Fung is great, sure, but not during COVID, it's takeout is sad and not nearly as fresh as Dim Sum King's, making it not worth it in comparison.
New Port is our favorite for dim sum but during COVID they aren't serving anything but main dishes.
So, for what it is, Dim Sum King is the best around. Worth it, satisfying, affordable, fresh, local,...
Read moreSmall shop with a great selection of dim sum! Both fried and steamed. Plenty of dishes to go along with the dim sum like fried rice and different kinds of noodles. I got the Tofu Wrapped Shrimp, Crazy Shrimp Ball and a Red Bean Sesame Ball. All of them lived up to my expectations built on previous orders from some places in San Jose and Chinatown. San Francisco. Delicious! I love the tofu wrapped shrimp because I try to keep a keto diet and tofu is a better choice from a carbohydrate standpoint! Everything should be wrapped in tofu! The Crazy Shrimp Ball was loaded with shrimp, a crispy exterior, delightful! The Red Bean Sesame Ball is a nice sweet ending to a light lunch. Kind of like a deep fried red bean mochi that's been rolled in sesame seeds. Still warm and very satisfying. Dim sum is the perfect lunch for someone who's on the go like myself. Most of it is handheld and you can nibble on it in the car as you go about your deliveries. Adding this place to my favorites in Sunnyvale. I...
