I recently had the pleasure of dining at Anandha Bhavan, and let me tell you, it was a culinary experience like no other! From the moment I stepped in, I knew I was in for a treat. The warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a truly exceptional meal.
The food? Absolutely divine! Each dish was a masterful blend of flavors, textures, and aromas that left me in awe. The dosas were crispy and light, the idlis fluffy and soft, and the vadas... oh, the vadas! Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and paired with a side of spicy chutney that had just the right amount of kick.
But the real showstopper was the Kalyana sapadu thali. A symphony of flavors and textures, each component complemented the others perfectly. The rice, the lentils, the vegetables, the pickle... everything was cooked to perfection and served with a generous helping of love. And don't even get me started on the desserts! The gulab jamun was like a sweet cloud in my mouth, and the kesari bath... well, let's just say I've never tasted anything quite like it.The service? Impeccable! Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff who genuinely care about your experience. In short, Anandha Bhavan is a must-visit for anyone who loves South Indian cuisine. It's a taste of heaven on earth, and I can't wait to go...
Read moreWow!! Great food. If you are looking for a spot for South Indian food in SF/Bay area/Silicon Valley area, this is your spot. Let me introduce you to this South Indian food here. I ordered the Kalyana Sapaadu (Marriage feast). Don't worry about the name, it is just a collection of different items served everyday in South India. You get a round tray of rice, sambar(Lentil masala curry), kootu(thick lentil gravy), poriyal(dry vegetable stir fried), aviyal(mixed vegetable curry), rasam(watery curry prepared with spices that kill flu, more of medicinal value), appalam (crispy pappadums), yogurt, pickle, sweet of the day. All items are nutritious, more of protein and vitamins in each curry. For togo orders, you can eat in the tray that comes with the items. No special or extra plates needed. Everything was well packed. Add to this, a banana to complete the palette. You can either order one of the Kalyana Saapaadu and serve for two or go for one per order. You will definitely feel being in the southern part of India and eating what people eat everyday there, Guaranteed!!!! They are open for online orders too in Doordash. Go ahead and...
Read moreI can't believe I've slept on this place, having thought I know Sunnyvale inside and out! The inside is delightful and brings back many memories of hanging out with my classmates taking me to Punjabi Sikh joints in the upper east side in NYC as we stuffed ourselves while watching Bollywood movies, hanging out with taxi drivers, only this is South Indian! So delightful! Highly recommended especially for out of town visitors as it's generally difficult to find South Indian food in the US and Europe, and it brings a slice of humanity in a suburban area.
I'm now a big fan of Thali, it reminds me of all the best aspects of Korean banchan and Japan meals, lots of small portions of delicious things with variety that add up to one big thing! And even better that it's vegetarian, vegetarians for the win.
Half the fun is watching the movies, and as during the week it's a lot of well-heeled business folks, it'd be cool to see this place on weekends when there are families here, just for the vibes and people watching, sort of a South Indian in and...
