Got two cakes here for a birthday, an earl grey one and a pork floss one. The cakes are not that big and they're not dense. There's fluffy layers of cake, then a moderate amount of a light cream topping. They felt like a way to end of meal, not an entire meal on its own.
We shared them between five people. Due to societal norms, I stopped at one slice. However, I can see myself buying a whole cake and eating it alone... That's how good it was. Maybe it was so light that I felt you could eat it without stopping. In any case, these cakes were unforgettable.
Earl grey: The floral smell is there but it's not bitter nor overpowering. It's reminiscent of earl grey milk tea. It's a pleaser for people who enjoy lavender, earl grey, and the like.
Pork floss and salted egg: This weirded us out at first but the salty and sweet combo was a winner. The pork floss was flavorful and densely packed, unlike Vietnamese pork floss. If you like pork floss pastries, you'd like this. The flavors of the pork floss and the cake didn't fight one another; it was balanced.
Overall, I'd definitely eat another cake from here but I'd recommend it for smaller parties or for people who aren't big on desserts. I think you'd need several to satisfy a...
Read moreWe visited WhaT's More Cake Studio on a Saturday evening and were pleasantly surprised to find it wasn't too crowded. There was a good amount of parking available in the lot, which was a plus.
The selection of cakes was a bit limited, possibly because it was later in the evening. However, the friendly staff member we spoke with was very helpful in explaining the different options. We ended up trying the creme brulee crepe cake, which was delicious but a bit dense. The layers were delicate and flavorful, but the price tag of $12 a slice felt a bit steep.
Overall, WhaT's More Cake Studio is a great option if you're looking for a tasty treat. Just be aware that the selection might be more limited towards the end of the day. They offer a variety of cakes, including chiffon, boxed, and, of course, their signature crepe cakes. For the delicious crepe cake and friendly service, I'd give them 4...
Read moreIdk what people are raving about… they were putting out whole cake from the back since it was running out and you could tell all the layered crapes were pre-frozen… some of ours was still very frozen when we got it. For $12/slice, I expected it to not be frozen and freshly made. (Yeah I get you have to pre-make and freeze and whatnot) but if it’s gonna be frozen, You can get extremely similar (if not identical) frozen ones from Asian markets for like $3-4 and it’s similar sweetness but little more cream in them & taste better when thawed. It just looks good on insta post, disappointment in reality 😔 we tested so you don’t have to suffer. This was everyone’s sentiment in the group. Not to mention seats are extremely limited (3-4 group tables) and you most likely won’t get it since people will be getting tea with it. We had to...
