My first time staying here as a guest. The main guest check in location is on one side of the street with regular rooms and across the street are rooms that is a penthouse. Since I was a gold elite member, I was given a complimentary upgrade which was nice of them. The exterior design seems to be homey feel like designs from the 1960s or 1970s feel. (I could be wrong on this) I was given a map on how I can find my room and it also has information on nearby restaurants and how to contact guest services. I found this to be most helpful and really like it especially if it's someone who is new to the area..

After I checked in, I drove across the street to my room and I'm pretty disappointed that their parking spaces are narrow. You can only let one car driving one way which is unfortunate. My room was located upstairs behind the building. The stairs were narrow to walk up and it does have creaking sounds, just a tad bit. I went in to my room and toured around. The downstairs room seems cozy except the bathroom is pretty small and so was the little hallway. I went upstairs where it has a second bed and bathroom with a standing shower which seems to be modern and updated. Not sure if they renovated but the sink was located outside of the bathroom which created more open space. That is something I like. The one thing I'm icky is the toilet's flushing mechanism for both toilets which seems like it's going to break but it's not. Another thing is that the AC has some awkward air smell coming in. Sometimes it feels like something is burning and other times I smelled fried foods. Sometimes I don't smell those things at all.

The buildings in this location is rather old even after I went to my room. Overall, the room is decent for the cost per night. Customer service was fine but I wouldn't say it was the best. Location was convenient to travel to the office but inconvenient to get to my room as their property is split into two areas across the street from each other. In addition to the location, there were a bit of shrubs/bushes and bugs outside of the building which is very annoying since I easily get bug bites. If you're looking for a good deal for your night stay, this hotel would be a choice for you if you doing mind...

This is a 4.5 star review is for THIS CATEGORY of hotels. This isn't the Ritz or Four Seasons, nor is it a Westin or Hyatt or even a regular Marriott. With that said, I'm comparing this to Fairfield Inn & Suites, TownPlace Suites, Homewood Suites, Embassy Suites, LaQuinta Inn & Suites, etc during March 2022 while we are still coming out of a pandemic.||Pro: |Close to SJC|900+ square feet|Laundry on site $1.75/$1.50 (coin operated is cheaper than using the app, front desk has quarters)|Breakfast M-F is hot. SS grab n GO (March 2022, this might be pandemic related)|Fitness center 24/7 (cardio and free weights)|Arranged like townhouses, each building has 4 units, 2 on street level, 2 upper level. Penthouses include upstairs loft bdrm/bath|Coffee daily (Starbucks)|Filtered water at front desk dispenses cold and hot |We were in penthouse suite which is on 2nd floor walk up (3rd floor is the loft bdrm + bath), parking was right next to the unit|Parking $12/night |Driving distance less than 10min from so many places (Levi stadium, Great America, Top Golf, Mountain View, Santa Clara) and all major freeways |Front desk staff is great, addressed me by name each time and friendly & professional |Less than 5 minutes from Whole Foods Santa Clara, which is an Amazon delivery hub so you can ship stuff directly there and they'll hold it for about 2 weeks.||Con|Floors thump if you're on street level|If your building is against the highway, you'll hear some highway noise, bring earplugs.|Stairs to loft are not regulation size, almost ladder size so can easily slip down if you have socks and misstep (we know from experience)|Shower door would not stay closed during shower|Fry pans but no spatula|The pullout sofa bed was the absolute worst sofa bed, you could feel the coils on your back, we had to buy an air mattress.||Despite the cons, we really liked the drive up to your unit setup (vs a hotel), it felt like living in a townhouse, we hardly saw other guests, and the location for us was perfect, this was our home base for 4 nights and I would...

I stayed here several nights and did not have the negative experience others did. My stay was great, and my room was exactly as advertised. I was surprised by the size of the studio, actually. You've got a big desk for traveling employees, and the kitchen was full-size. I could've made sizeable meals in there. The refrigerator was also full-sized. There was enough room for a sofa and lounging in front of the tv, and the bathroom area was plenty big for a single traveler or couple. The WC and shower had its own door, so you could let someone else shower while you do your hair and makeup in the sink area.||I was on a multicity trip, and for the price, this place was much better than the fancy hotel I stayed in in San Francisco. ||Some reviewers complained that there was nothing around. Well, that's not always a negative either. There was peace and quiet for me here. You had to drive down the street to get gas, no big deal, and then drive to the other side of the freeway to access a small shopping center with a Paris Baguette, Panda Express, etc., but that's not a long trip at all. Also, downtown Sunnyvale was only 5-6 minutes away -- by "downtown" I mean the area of Sunnyvale with a Whole Foods, the AMC, Target, the pedestrian zone with restaurants of many cuisine types (shout-out to Dishdash mediterranean food). ||You won't be impressed by the exterior of this Residence Inn, but I was very happy with my room. ||To those of you complaining about paying parking every night, well, I was paying $90+ for the same thing in San Francisco. $17 a night is not terrible. ||I also liked the fast access to the 101 because I needed to travel to San Jose and around the south bay. ||This place is no-frills, and it doesn't need to be. I would definitely stay here again for a business trip or a long...

I stayed at this property twice. Overall, the stay was good and the facilities were decent. However, I was quite disappointed with how the staff handled an emergency situation. One of the nights during my last stay, the fire alarm went off and around five families, including me, had to evacuate the building. Shockingly, the front desk staff continued checking in new guests instead of addressing the alarm or assisting those already outside. Eventually, it was one of the guests who had to call 911. This shows a serious gap in emergency preparedness and staff training. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and ensures the staff is better equipped to handle such situations in the future.

RI 1 is an amazing place to be, especially if you are looking for long term stay. The studio rooms come with fully furnished kitchens. There is a natural pond inside of the property with flowing water, ducks, Bridges and grass on the shore making it my favorite choice of stay in the Bay area! The hotel also provides complimentary breakfast everyday and has social gathering with beer and snacks on 3 days in a week! You can also get yourself a penthouse if you are visiting with your family or a big group of friends.
