We’ve been going to Tailgaters for UFC fights for years. Normally, we get there early to get a good seat. Unfortunately, we were unable to get there early. As a result, no seats after an hour and a half wait. That’s not my complaint however. My complaint is with a manager named Joey. We stood and waited for an hour and a half. We waited in hopes of a table opening up. We waited hoping others would not wait and our name would move up the list. We waited with the intention of sitting down, ordering food, and drinks. While we waited, we ordered drinks from the bar. We chatted with the friendly hostesses. We watched a drunken douchebag bump into a waitress causing her to spill a pitcher of beer onto another customer. We watched tables be occupied for the entire duration of our wait and hardly order anything; and we felt bad for the servers fetching their waters. We watched impatient patrons cop attitudes with the hostess staff over the wait, asking repeatedly where they were on the list. We waited. We patiently waited. We were kind to the staff. We ordered drinks, making us paying customers. So when Joey started talking negatively about customers, in front of customers, this did not set well with us. He referred to us “customers” as “stingy”. He accused those of us waiting for a table of “standing around watching a free fight”. He also commented that if we “customers” wanted a table we should have gotten here earlier. Then he proceeded to express his negative opinions on the UFC surrounded by hundreds of UFC fans, saying it’s stupid and it would be better if fighters were using drugs, then the fights would be more interesting. He walks around the restaurant with a smug look on his face like he’s Gods gift to the restaurant kingdom. Yet he’s an annoying loud mouth who doesnt grasp the concept of a time and a place, customer service, professionalism, and setting a good example to his staff. We fully intended to stay after the fight and eat a late dinner, after waiting hours and smelling pizza, we were ready for some food! After hearing Joeys opinions on the people who literally contribute to his paycheck, we decided to take our business elsewhere and get pizza at another establishment. Completely inappropriate, unprofessional, and tacky. Joey needs a new profession, not...
Read moreWe stood at the wait to be seated sign upon entering. After not being acknowledged for a couple of minutes the short blonde bar tender frustratedly told us to sit anywhere. We started looking around to find a TV with the game we wanted to watch on it. While looking at the TV'S in the backroom what we think is the manager rudely says you can't be seated in here, I have a large party coming. Sit wherever and we can change the channel. We sit at a high top table in the bar area. A server takes our drink order and we ask about changing the channel. The beer comes very quickly, but no diet coke and no channel change. The three servers are huddled up talking, and we don't see Mrs. Friendly manager. After going to the restroom and coming back still no diet coke or channel change. Our server makes eye contact, we give her the drink sign and she gives a nod. After she serves others and almost 5 minutes later - bingo diet coke is delivered! The server asks if we want an app, we order cheese curds and ask about the channel change. She oh yeah what game again? We tell her, again and she leaves and a couple of minutes later another server comes over and asks what game? We tell her Miami vs Southern Mississippi. She then asks Siri what channel Mississippi is on. She starts changing channels and asking if this is it. Arkansas, North Carolina every team but Miami. She is getting frustrated and the short, blonde bartender makes a comment to other guests sitting at the bar that it probably doesn't start for two hours. We hear the comment but are not sure it was in reference to us at this time. Then a minute or so later from behind the bar with all the attitude of you're an idiot she could muster she shrieks out it doesn't start until 8:00pm, We let her know it is on now (deep into the third quarter at this point). The app still hadn't come out, the diet coke was in need of refilling and yet we had our fill of all the hospitality that this Tailgaters was offering! If the manager ever makes it out of the back she won't have to worry about changing a channel for us as we...
Read moreComing from New York home of chicken wings, tailgaters wings rank up there as best in Arizona.
I really don't want to do this, but feel the need. I love the food, the atmosphere and it's close to home. I will first say, I don't ever remember this happening before, but also had no reason to check. I ordered 20 chicken wings (my favorite, they are so good) I was eating them knowing what 20 feels like in my stomach, this time I was just over 10 wings down and knew I was about half way there. The only problem was, I looked down in my basket to only see five remaining. I said to myself, I must have miss judged how many I had eaten. I have never actually counted my wings before but when I looked at the eaten wings I could clearly see 10, one in my hand and five in the basket. I hated to say anything, but that was just a slight bit over 3/4 of what I was paying for. I said something and the waitress had no problem getting me more and I was never questioned. I really hope this was a honest mistake. I would be lying if I tried to say that my gut says different. If it was one maybe two wings short I could totally understand the mistake, but four short is just a little to many. Did I need those four wings, no, but it was principle. I have just known to many businesses that had the motto, one here one there we save $$. Let me just say I hope not. I will definitely go back because I really like the place. But the trust has been broken and I really hope they earn it back. Sorry Tailgatters, I just felt the need to get this out there. Hopefully all will be back to 5 stars after a few...
