Me, my wife, and my mother in law went for lunch on a Saturday. It was not busy. When we were ordering my wife wanted the lobster roll just on a gluten free bun (we have to be gluten free due to celiac disease). The server said he would have to check with the chef if he can do that. He came back and said the chef wouldn’t do it. My wife said she didn’t want anything else and was confused as to why he can’t put it on a gluten free roll. The server said the chef said no but can do it on no roll. This makes no sense and my wife said she is disappointed and Harvest brands themselves as someone who is allergen friendly and accommodating towards people with food allergies. We said we would just cancel our order and not return and then magically the chef could do it. My mother in law stressed that she can’t have dairy and the server said no problem (he didn’t write any orders down and this is probably part of the problem). My mother in law wanted the mahi mahi tacos on corn tortillas. He said they don’t have corn tortillas but can do lettuce wraps. She said ok and again stressed no dairy. Her tacos come out looking like a salad (the person who dropped the food even looked confused and asked if it was a salad) and she ate a couple of bites and then realized there was sour cream on them. I couldn’t find our server so I asked another server (who had no idea and was looking at the menu because she didn’t know the menu apparently). She brought it to the back and our server came back and apologized that he didn’t mark it no dairy or to remove the sour cream or anything (I used to wait tables and bartend, this is why you write down the orders). He offered to remake it but at this point my mother in law was concerned she was going to be sick. We took it to go instead and got the check. At no point did the manager ever stop by (I have worked as a supervisor and managers should be stopping by all tables to check, but especially if there is a problem which we had a few). My mother in law wanted to go specifically to harvest because of how good they are supposed to be with allergies but this was just a poor experience. I don’t know if it was laziness or poor training but none of that should have happened. The server should be writing down orders and I don’t know why the chef was giving a hard time about a gluten free roll. The manager should be checking on tables. Just a bad experience and will not...
Read moreOur daughter set up a engagement dinner there last night as we had @ 20 people and she loved the food last time she was there.
we had 3 at our table who did not like the scallops, shrimp rosottlo as it smelled fishy and loaded with salt and could not eat.
service for a 18 top should have 1 1/2 servers commited just to this table alone We had several different servers so it was hit or miss at times..drinks were every 1/2 hour or longer. Before i go furthef i have eaten in some of the finest restaurants from the west to east coast and worked in the field and trained by some of the Best for over 35 years and very fortunate to have done so. Customer Service has to be the #1 focus and food Quality as well. When i asked for the manager. (Lets just call her maggie ) I found her to keep saying well i took it off the bill. it wasnt about the money as much as her general concern and attitude to help with problems or compliments that customers ask a manager for. When she called my wife to be a liar thats what did me in. I knew she really didnt care then and before. People with nut allergies or cant chew them shoùld not be found out there desert has n̈uts in it while its in there mouth. when i addresseed this with Maggie i was told to point the people out who served them and she would fire them. i guess firing them at this restuarant is easier then training them. i was not upset with the serving staff as they were very polite.
Mistakes and problems happen every day. But how we handle and treat your paying cutomers has to be key. the customers pay the workers salary not the business owner. What concerned me is our daughter spoke very highly to me of the Harvest Grill And her special night was just not what she was expecting from such a high end establishment. Hopè Maggie gets the training she so...
Read moreVery rarely do you find a restaurant that has good food for people with and without dietary restrictions under one roof.
Exceptional food and lots of dietary accommodation choices. More and more people are becoming dairy and gluten free due to autoimmune diseases and it's insanely tough to find dishes and chefs who are brave enough and skilled enough to make entrees that are both and taste good. Tonight I had eggplant parm for the first time in nearly 20 years and it was exceptional. The crispy way the eggplant was cooked gave it a texture that complimented the pasta. The eggplant was also not bland. Some restaurants think GF and vegan = bland. Not this place! And most noteworthy, this is one of the few restaurants that has vegan cheese that actually tastes good and doesn't make you want to scrape it off and eat around it. Vegan cheese that tastes good is hard to find, so kudos for finding one that pairs well with the dish. Bravo. Highest compliments to the chef and kitchen staff. Lastly, I had the watermelon mojito dessert. Also, exceptional! Rarely do I get to eat a dessert other than sorbet, so to actually get one of those cute jar desserts that was GF and dairy free was the cherry on top of an outstanding meal. Thank you for your innovation. I live in Orlando, so when I come to PA to visit family, it's hard to eat out and find anything other than garden salads.
If you have family with no diet restrictions, they will also love the food. My husband and 5 year old daughter loved their entrees. I especially love that they have salmon in the kids menu. Thank you for offering more than burgers, Mac n cheese, and chicken tenders to kids!
This will be a regular stop on family visits. ...
