I'm changing my four-star review from 5 plus years ago to now a two-star review. I used to like going here a lot. As did the family. Now whenever someone says about going here I loathe it Portions have continued to get diminutive over the years. It just doesn't seem to be what it was. I remember when this franchise first came into York Pennsylvania when I was a kid. There was a wait to get in and the portions were large. Today my wife and I stopped for a late breakfast. I would have rather gone to a local diner but she wanted pecan pancakes so we went here. It looks like the rebranding has recently occurred and they have new breakfast menus and such. That's fine. I ended up getting a mama's breakfast and she ended up getting the pecan pancakes off the sunrise special. She had a $1 upcharge for her pancakes to be made pecan which I understand. Our server asked how we wanted our eggs and we both said over light. Who doesn't love dippy eggs? Anyway my wife wanted toast. I also wanted toast but didn't ask for it. I knew there would be a charge to add toast. Now my wife got two slices of sourdough toast and when I got the bill, the add-on was almost $3 for two slices of toast. I think if you're serving eggs and you give somebody an option for how they want them and they say they want over light or dippy if you will, it should include toast. If I would have went to the local diner I prefer for breakfast their breakfast options include toast. You need toast with eggs. If I would have gotten toast that would have been another almost $3 putting us at almost six bucks just to have four slices of toast. As an aside, if you look at the receipt there is a three in parentheses beside toast. It makes me wonder if we should have gotten three slices instead of the two that I mentioned. I don't know. I'm sorry if I'm harping on this but really... Toast should be included or be a nominal amount. Not $3. Just to finish The staff was friendly and I did bring this up when I was checking out and the cashier said she was sorry but didn't say anything to anyone else. At the very least I think a manager should have been told hey this is something that the customer thinks is wrong and could be addressed. Perhaps the CEO could do something more than just change the logo and actually get toast included with breakfast. Anyway I lament the next time I have to go to a Cracker Barrel. Maybe they'll do something to change my opinion going forward.

Every visit to Cracker Barrel is like taking a delightful journey back in time, where the warmth of Southern hospitality and the charm of country living are celebrated in every corner. My recent dining experience at Cracker Barrel was, as always, a heartwarming affair that reminded me of the simple pleasures of home-cooked meals and genuine service. Upon entering, I was greeted by the familiar sights and sounds of the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, which is always a treat to explore. The store is a treasure trove of nostalgic memorabilia, unique gifts, and old-fashioned candies that evoke childhood memories. It’s this unique combination of dining and shopping that sets Cracker Barrel apart and adds to the overall experience. The dining area, with its rustic decor and cozy fireplace, instantly made me feel at home. The menu at Cracker Barrel is a testament to traditional American comfort food, offering a wide range of hearty dishes that are prepared with care and served in generous portions. I opted for the Chicken n' Dumplins, a Cracker Barrel classic, and it was absolutely delicious. The dish was savory, filling, and tasted like it was made from scratch with love. What truly stands out at Cracker Barrel, though, is the impeccable service. The staff are not only efficient but extraordinarily friendly, going out of their way to ensure that every guest feels welcome and satisfied. Their smiles and attentive service contribute significantly to the warm and familial atmosphere that Cracker Barrel is known for. Additionally, the value for money at Cracker Barrel is exceptional. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes of the meals. It’s a place where families can enjoy a fulfilling meal without worrying about the cost, making it a preferred choice for many. Cracker Barrel also excels in creating a sense of community. The large, communal dining tables and the front porch, complete with rocking chairs, invite guests to relax and enjoy the slower pace of life, even if just for a while. It's these thoughtful touches that make each visit memorable. Cracker Barrel offers more than just a meal; it provides an experience steeped in comfort, tradition, and nostalgia. Whether you’re stopping by for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you’re guaranteed to leave with a full belly and a warm heart. I eagerly anticipate my next visit, confident that it will be as delightful as the last.

May 25 Update: All floors were sticky! Needs a good scrubbing. 2025 Great Outdoor Show Update: Busy after the show with a wait, but after the bigger parties were seated, we only waited for about 15-20 minutes due to only being 2 of us at 7 pm at night. Out of broccoli, more biscuits were being baked, and the food was warm, not hot, but with being so busy, one can expect it. First time had the trout. Was good with the skin on it, but seasonings a little salty. The oil lamp needs cleaned! Came for dinner after working the NRA Great American Outdoor Show on opening Saturday at the PA Backcountry Hunters & Anglers booth. Very busy. Was told there would be a 45-minute wait due to the kitchen being behind. The host offered to text us, but I asked if we could play checkers at the game table in the dining room. With all the people and noise and the host not speaking very loud, the names she called were not clear. We played 1 game of checkers and saw there were several empty tables. Went to speak with the host that was in sight distance of the checkerboard table. The younger host had taken us off the wait list! The older host apologized but was not very friendly. Charles, our server, should get 5 stars! He was attentive, helpful, and friendly, along with displaying mild humor. Charles honored all our requests and was available for extra needs. He said he had only been at Cracker Barrel for about 3 weeks, but had worked at different establishments over the years. Great personality! Made up for the hosts that would have left us at the checkerboard table! All the kitchen and wait staff saw us as they exited the kitchen, and NOT 1 person asked if we were being helped! Why bother to have that table there? Food: Free Bites appetizer when I signed up for their new Rewards program that was advertised in the menu and on the table. Too salty for me! Glad they were free. Food not as good as other locations, but it could be due to how busy they were. Ordered the Take Home meal (Smokey Chicken & Mashed Potatoes - $5 value) to go with all my leftovers. Provided already cold & ready to go. Will see if we like it.

Upon returning home from a day trip on 1/27/2024, we decided to stop at this Cracker Barrel location as we were really looking forward to some delicious breakfast foods. As soon as we entered, we were not happy with our expereince. We met the hostess and were told it would be a fifteen minute wait. We then browsed the Gift Shop with our four children waiting to be called. I noticed that 75% of the dinning area was unoccupied and 6 tables needed to be bussed and cleaned off. After 25 minutes we checked in to see when we could be seated, however, an employee was in front of us who just clocked out after thier shift (we overheard the whole story as we were right behind them) and wanted to wait for a ride home - the hostess seated them right away to serve them a meal even though there was a waiting list of 10+ parties still needing to be sat. We were able to ask about our wait time and commented that it was over 20 mintues. The hostess very rudely commented, "Well, it's only been twenty ONE mintues and we are still waiting for your table to be cleared." I looked in the dinning room, and the same 6 tables that I saw upon my entry were still not cleaned off. Eventually we were seated and we placed our order as we had time to look at the menu. I was looking around the dining room and I noted a manager was finally bussing tables, but did so with no urgency. In fact, I saw this individual constantly on their cell phone, then would go back to cleaning a table - it took them entirely too long as they were constantly distracted. We were there for over an hour and a half, and most of those tables still were not cleaned off by the time we left, in fact, several new tables were now needing cleaned as other patrons had left and by now the crowd in the Gift Shop only got larger. When it came to our food, it was hot, and it was cooked, but my order was almost completly incorrect. I ordered the Country Boy Breakfast (steak, eggs, biscuts and gravy) but, when I recieved my mealbthere were no steak tips, biscuts or gravy on my plate as described on the menu. I was charged for a meal that I didn't order. I did address this with our server, and she appeared surprised that the meal was not correct - she didn't even notice items were missing. She did go and put biscuts and gravey in a take home bag for me, but I did not want to have another meal made as we had already waited 45 mintues for our food; with having 4 small children we were already on barrowed time before they became too restless. To make matters worse one of my sons order didn't arrive until AFTER the rest of us were done eatting. Our server did appologize, but again, I could tell there was no sense of urgency as it was clear she forgot his order was up and didn't bring it out. FInally we asked for a small take home container to take our leftovers home as we already paid and were ready to leave but had to wait another 10 mintues for the server to return with the container. This is not isolated to this location - we have had a similiar expereince at another CB out of state. My family and I will not be dining at another Cracker...

As a former GM for a major restaurant chain, when I go to a restaurant there are certain things I look for. Besides the obvious, there are the employees. Good employees who care about their customers stand out the most to me and I like to tell you about my visit last night.6/6/2025 I took my son to this restaurant because my husband and I frequent this place and we love the atmosphere and most of the employees that we run into. Last night one stood out above most of the servers. His name is Kevin, he is there usually Wednesday's and Sundays. This guy had several tables but treated each one as they were the only one he had. I made the comment that most would not bust a sweat to move like he did for all of his tables. He busted a sweat by running back and for to get what the customers needed without one complaint or demenior. I have seen waiters and waitress go back and for often for their tables but Kevin made it his goal to see that each table was treated exactly like the next. He walked at a pace that was as fast as he could without running. For us, what ever we asked, we could count on it being there with a quick return asking again and again if thing were ok or if he could get anything else before moving on to his next table. Once we received out food it was piping hot, correct and yummy. Chicken dippers for me with a side of a loaded baked potato and my second favorite thing from there, dumplings. They are OMG amazing but the fried okra is at the top of my list. The boys both got a chicken sandwich and fries. The chicken on the sandwich was so thick and juicy . I asked them how they were going to get it into their mouths, but they soon made light work of it. We had an issue but it was taken care of in a manor unexpected by the hourly manager who was pleasant and apologetic. I wish i remembered her named but she was amazing. When you go there ask for Kevin if he is there and available I know without a doubt your service and experience will be an amazing one. I also want to mention a wonderful person who we have come to know and love. The trainer, Karen, alway pleasant, caring and an absolute gem to their team. An the store staff, to of them last night always full of smile and help. Names, No clue bit the all are amazing. Cameron is our favorite store person next to a older lady with long hair in a ponytail. Cameron was not there last night but I thought that he deserved a shout out. They do get busy and things do happen that do not make us happy but they are alway pleasant and helpful. They take the time needed to make they take your order correctly, and received as you expected offering to fix it in some way always. Go, say hello to every one but seek these people out when you do and tell them that you heard they are awesome. Zach and I love the store and often shop, especially when a cow product is spotted. BTW, CB, Get more cow or as I refer to them, moo-moos. Be safe and take...
