If you have yet to expose yourself to Jamaican cuisine then please do right by the good Lord by eating here as soon as you can. If you have had Jamaican food and needed a good recommendation then do yourself the favor by eating here.
In my hungry stupper I have been too rude to ask for the name(s) of the lovely personalities catering to our wants and needs. But know that there are good people making great food that are helpful and hospitable.
My first time around I got the curried goat platter while my friend got the jerk chicken, we both got rice and peas and shared cabbage and sweet plantains. Everything was excellent with no exaggerating. I'm an island boy (🇭🇹/🇩🇴) who grew up with and around similar flavors, eating at Pepper Pot was a pleasantly familiar experience.
Going in for the second time today for a quick patty pickup but also wanted to try the Mac n cheese just to see what's up. Also a pleasant surprise! I don't normally like Mac n cheese unless it's a baked Haitian style or similar and this had a closer flavor profile to what I like. Really excellent beef patties! I only got one cause I was getting the macaroni but next time it's two or three patties for me, haha.
Will be going back many more times with a smile on my face. Looking forward to trying everything eventually. Also, I'll try to be more intentional the next time I go to be sure to actually take a picture of my food before...
Read moreI went to this restaurant because I had a certificate for $20 from clipp.com. I have used these certificates numerous times at other establishments and always they are treated as cash with no restrictions beyond the normal coupon restrictions (only use one per transaction, etc). I ordered $19.99 worth of food and presented the certificate for payment. The cashier then told me that to use the certificate, I would have to order what would have amounted to about double what I had ordered. She said management told her that's how it had to be done. I tried to explain that the certificate made no mention of this restriction and asked to speak to a manager. Apparently, one was not available, so I chose to leave the restaurant. I alerted clipp.com which promptly refunded my money. If you have a clipp.com certificate, plan on ordering $50 plus worth of food to get them to honor it. Otherwise, you are wasting your time. Also, please take a moment to read the response the owner had to my post and many of the other negative posts to see the quality of customer service they have. It's shocking that a business owner can't understand why a customer would have issue with how I...
Read moreTryed this place with my husband for the first time and in a nutshell shell wasn’t bad but definitely can be improved. The food did not taste bad, but I didn’t get the authenticity that I was looking for. The service was A1. The lady who served us was very polite and kind. She informed and greeted us when we said it was our first time here and showed us to the menu. The food was a bit pricey but we paid for it because it’s been years since I had Jamaican food. The atmosphere was better then many in Harrisburg but you always want to keep all the tables clean just in case you have eat in guest, which the one table was not. The facilities were very clean and smelled nice. There was some nice music playing and I felt very comfortable. Overall it was a nice experience, but was not happy about the portions of what you get compared to the prices. All together we spent $57 dollars for two platters, two beef patties, a small container of white rice and plantains and a couple of drinks. (We had gotten a third bottle of water for 50 cents off the original price which was nice). Not sure if we will be back but it was a nice experience nevertheless. Thanks for the...
