Feed Your Soul Restaurant — Restaurant in Swatara Township

My other half and I ate there for the first time yesterday, and like so many others have said in their reviews, THIS IS GOOD SOUTHERN COOKIN!!!

The moment it hits your taste buds.. you feel it on your soul IT IS THAT GOOD!!!

My other half ordered the whiting, sweet potatoes and mac & cheese.

I ordered Catfish, mac & cheese and collard greens.

1st off... I haven't had me any Catfish that taste that good ANYWHERE up north!! AND THE COLLARD GREENS?? 😌😋 Oh myyyyy... look.. no offense to my fam.. know that I love ya'll with all my heart, but I haven't ever had collard greens as freaking delicious as Goldie makes em at Feed Your Soul LLC!!! 💯🙌🏽

Listen.. she be back in that kitchen putting all of her love, work and hard labor into each and everything she makes!!!

I'm a HUGE CRITIC when it comes to Catfish because I've only ever had it made good 1 other time in my entire life.

No matter where else I went?? It sucked... and I choked it down due to the price of it.

When asked how would I rate the catfish here?? Straight up.. I said a 20 out of 10!!!

Seen too some people complaining about plasticware & plates 🤣🤣🤣 Are you serious??!!!

Listen.. if I had my own restaurant, I'd be having people throw away their plates, cups and utensils too!!!

1.) Germs. Eeewww... keep that to ya self and throw it away pretty please and thank you!!

2.) because why have fancy plates and whatnot?? Like if I owned my own restaurant and I didn't have to wash additional dishes on top of all my stuff in the kitchen... you REALLY THINK I'M GONNA ARGUE ABOUT NOT WASHING MORE DISHES AFTER SWEATING MY TAIL END OFF MAKING ALL THAT FOOD??!!! 🤣🤣🤣... get outta here!!

So if you're one of them people who got your pinky so far up in the air that it blinds you from an atmosphere where EVERYONE is welcome?? Then have at it... don't bother. Go to some Gucci place that you're gonna pay $90 for a piece of fish the size of a cup saucer. 🤣🤣

We all good to have us some REAL FISH... at a realistic price considering today's economy... on our fancy plastic plates!!! DON'T MIND ONE BIT!!

AND we gonna enjoy our Kool-aid and Sweet tea in our Styrofoam cups too!!!

Pfftt!!! I'll take REAL over fake and uppity-up ANY DAY!!!!

Keep up the hard work, the good hospitality, and the AMAZING FOOD!!!

Back for another RiRi Rates/Reviews and we are here at Feed Your Soul Harrisburg PA! And let me start by saying this is by far one of the BEST restaurants I have ever had the pleasure in rating/reviews and I have been all over the oast 20 years.

First impressions- The smell smacks you the second you open the door it is incredible! Mixed with the the zen quality but also new York style decor extremely unique.

Customer service/information- Very welcoming environment, friendly, clean and made to order so FRESH is what you will be receiving so patience is a virtue if ordering take-out (well worth ever second) they also have a call ahead option for on the goers and a nice selection of tables. I did notice they also allow reservations for occasions which is perfect.

Now on to the best parts as always!

I want to start by saying that this is not your typical fast food soul food place. This place is down right home cooking at its finest!!!! The menu is bountiful right down to the 16 side options available!!!!

-fried chicken was so amazing I couldn't even get to my sides tbh until the end. I could taste very hint of flavors used, the skin was fried to perfection.

Candied Yams- Once again the best hands down I've ever had I could taste at least 3 flavors made to perfection.

Corn on the cob- melted off the cob and seasoned juicy.

Mac and cheese- Delicious flavorful and I love that they made sure all portions had some of the crust we all crave.

Cornbread- Buttery sweet and fluffy!!!!!!

Mango peach homemade Kool aid yes I said Kool aid and it tasted like the most amazing Popsicle on the hottest summer day I would literally drive the hour again just for that tbh.

Strawberry-lemonade cake- words cannot describe the level of deliciousness and huge serving a must try if you have a sweet tooth (they have a large option of dessert available freshly prepared)

Last but certainly not least the Spanish style yellow rice was my favorite of this food run today I honestly don't know what special magic ingredients were used in this rice but it was by far the best rice in the East Coast.

I have to say this was one of THE WORST dining experiences I've had in a long time. While the staff is friendly, the food is not very good save for the catfish. The mac and cheese is not baked and is covered with cheap cheese sauce. The chicken and waffles were dry, and the candy yams were out of the can and too sweet. But this is just the tip of the iceberg. Despite the menu showing one price for most items and saying things are included with your meal, EVERY SINGLE THING is broken down and charged. I ordered the catfish with shrimp and grits and was charged $20 for the catfish, $7 for the grits, $9 for the shrimp, and $2 for the cheese!!! Like, are you serious? You charged me for the cheese?!!! My wife ordered chicken and waffles with strawberries and whipped cream and was charged for the whipped cream and the strawberries!!! My sister ordered the catfish and chose the yam and Mac for her "included sides" but then noticed she was charged for both sides despite them being included. On top of that, there is a 20% gratuity cahrge for parties of 4 or more. My wife and I were on one check, and my sister and her bf were on one check, and we were BOTH charged a $17 gratuity tax. In total, our totals came to $99.56 and $98.29, respectively. All of these other fees were hidden. No one knew that we were going to be charged a la carter. I have never been so angry before. None of the food was worth the excessive price and also paying $5 for a non refillable cup of Kool-Aid. I love supporting black owned businesses, but I WILL NEVER eat at Feed My Soul again.
