was told by the manager after complaining that my overcooked and underseared steak (which was ordered rare) was unable to be seared and that it was infact rare when you can clearly tell its very obviously pink and not red. i would call that medium rare to medium. the entire experience was weird this time around as this isnt the first time we've went, it started off with rice which was made without vegetables and then later on we were asked if we wanted them on the rice which we had to specify, normally the next course would be vegetables but today it was the protein before the vegetables which i found odd. my entire family got different varieties of cooked yet all of ours looked the same, all unseared and faintly pink in the middle. after the protein was the vegetables which were only broccoli, carrot, and zucchini when normally it comes with onion, these were prepared very poorly and our chef left them sitting for what felt like ages just to give us overcooked tasteless vegetables. normally at the end would be a shrimp but im assuming they either stopped doing that to cut costs or they were out today. overall very disappointed and the manager/owners response was absolutely terrible and the attitude was gross. he cut into my food to "prove" it was rare when honestly i dont think he knows nor cares about the difference. this restaurant used to be my favourite but after this overall experience we will not be going back again. dont waste your time or money on this food that takes up to 2 hours of waiting and about $35 a person just to experience less than mediocre, unauthentic, overcooked and poorly...
Read moreI have never tipped less than 20 percent in my life but when I tell you my server was absolutely horrendous I mean it. The manager, Eric, handled about 99% of the service, down to even bussing the table. Mind you in the whole restaurant there were maybe 3 tables and quite an over abundance of staff. Another thing about the staff is that they act like they have never seen another human before, very bizarre and inappropriate. My server got me a bottle of nigori and NEVER CAME BACK TO THE TABLE except to ask if everything was going good once all my plates had been bussed by the manager. It was also really disgusting to see my server eating on the kitchen line in plain view and talking on her phone in the kitchen, not once washing her hands, while the manager was essentially my server.
I asked for the dessert menu twice to see if I could give it one last shot and no one brought it.
The prices were about the same as Benihana with about 1/3 of the quality. The rice was soggy with soy sauce, the steak, which came out extremely well done by the way, had the same consistency of palomilla but was priced like Filet Mignon. It was quite a horrible hibachi experience especially being a party of 1, it should have been fantastic.
Of course there was also no damage control, I should have received a discount with everything that went wrong and that horrible service but of course not, I paid top dollar for horrible service and a mediocre meal and left. Very disappointing for the...
Read moreTerrible experience. 1. Floors were so greasy had to try not to slip 2. Was charged 10 dollars for sharing a plate, which although I can maybe understand, it was not disclosed to me and when I asked about it they were very rude, because of this and a larger than standard included gratuity, One meal, a coke, and some tea ended up being 80$ 3. Ordered an Udon soup appetizer and there was no soup, when I asked about it I was met with a rude toned “no it’s in there”, I had to actually flip the bowl to show her there was no soup. 4 Miso soup tasted like fry oil. 5. Although at Hibachi places the chef is supposed to be loud and over the top, our chef was incredibly strange, and almost belligerent to the point where it made everyone at the table slightly uncomfortable. 6. (And i’m not even like this) but idk how this place hasn’t gotten cancelled yet. Although I don’t expect everyone working at a hibachi place to be knowledgeable in the culture of the cuisine they’re cooking, at least most places like this show respect to Japanese cuisine. Japan inn gave me a very tacky, and almost racist feel. I don’t speak Japanese, but I listened to 4 happy birthday songs performed by them, and they all sounded different and riddled random gibberish. I will never go back here again based on the rudeness of the staff alone, and how they reacted to my questioning of the sharing charge. Otherwise i’m not sure how no one has slipped and really hurt themselves on...
