I was expecting a lot more for a homewood property. We stayed at the homewood miami airport west a few months ago and loved it, which is why I booked another homewood property but this one was lacking. First, upon check in the lady was nice enough but didn't give me any info and acted like I was a bother when I asked about breakfast, and then when I asked the best way to get to the elevators from parking lot, she told me to use the side entrance because I had a child. I felt like she was discriminating because I mentioned having a toddler. Once we got to the room, it had a horrible, musty smell. The picture frame on the wall was barely hung, and fell on my toddler. Thankfully I grabbed it in time before it hurt him, but it ended up smashing my finger in the process. I mentioned it to front desk who sent a tech up to re hang it. No apologies that my 3yo was injured or anything. The body wash on the wall in the shower fell off, no one even touched it. I bring my own toiletries and while i was in the shower, it just fell. The silverware in the drawer was not enough for all of us. Very small inconvenience but only 2 spoons?? We are a family of 4, but whatever that is the least of our concerns. The place was not very clean. The paper towels were very clearly used with pizza grease on the top from the prior guests, so what else was reused? I wiped the whole place down with lysol wipes and they were very dirty. I found socks behind the nightstand. The door bolt was broken. I paid for a premium room for the snacks, but had absolutely no snacks provided. Breakfast selection was also lacking. I liked the chia pudding option, but it was not made correctly and gross (thankfully I fixed it with things I brought) and they give you such a tiny serving in a tiny cup and only put out one at a time. Also if you can't eat eggs, there are no healthy protein options. Day 1 has some sausage links but a fried and over dried chicken patty on day 2. Honestly the only good thing about this was the fact it was so close to where we needed to be, and the pillows. The pillows were super comfy and I appreciate they are not cheap with the amount of pillows given. However, I will drive the extra 5 minutes next time for the other location because honestly this one sucked.
Forgot to mention my digital key would just stop working. I got stuck in the elevator several times and at one point the actual door key was just deactivated. Both of them. I had to go down and have them re key it for the room. So no key and the digital one intermittently worked....
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel for mother's day weekend. I was really disappointed with the service. The staff was always friendly. However, i had to complain about my room having bed bugs and this was at 5 am. I called the front desk and asked for a different room because we was getting bit. I was asked by the staff if i wanted clean linen but i had to make the bed myself. I told the staff I wanted a different room. We went from a 2 bed to 1 king. The shower wasn't clean it still had hair in it from the previous guest. Good thing we had Clorox wipes with us. Before we left for the beach housekeeping hadn't been to our room. When we returned almost 10 pm our room still hadn't been clean. I had to go to the front desk and complain. Since it was so late of course housekeeping was gone. Front desk had to get a guy that was in another department to bring us towels. He didn't understand English very well so it was hard to communicate with him. He did't take any of our dirty linen so that set on the floor until the next day. On Sunday which was mother's day we did have our room clean but the housekeeping staff took our bags that we had from Walmart to put in the trash can instead of using the bags from the hotel. They took the bag out of the ice bucket and never replaced it or left a new one. Monday came and again we had to complain about housekeeping again. We saw the staff on the floor but they skipped our room again. I was told we supposed to have housekeeping everyday but that wasn't the case here. I went to the front desk and told them our room was skipped over again. Well the front desk staff was supposed to call housekeeping but it took them at least an hours just to come but that was after we called downstairs and asked to speak with a manager. the manager was never around when we asked to speak with him. Normally I wouldn't complain but having to go through so much in a few days had really gotten to me. I did however speak to the manager the day before we left. He was very nice and professional just like all the staff but the service sucked. I expressed to him everything that we went through for our short stay. He did apologize for the inconvenience during our stay and offer a voucher for a free night sometime in the future. I'm writing this review not out of anger but because i feel as though the hotel should make improvements with the cleanliness of the hotel. I'm also writing this so the hotel can clean there rooms thoroughly between stays so that no one else have to go through what we...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I just stayed at this hotel while vacationing in Miami and our experience was horrible. Let me first start by saying their customer service was awful. When we arrived at the hotel we were told our room wasn't ready yet and instead of offering to call us when it was ready the lady said to come back in an hour. That seemed like a long time to get a room cleaned but we went to the dolphin mall and walked around to kill the time. When we came back to check in, the girl checking us in gave us a fake smile and didn't make us feel welcome at all. Two days later we came back to the hotel to find hundreds of ants crawling all over the bathroom floor and closet area. When we notified the front desk and told them we wanted to switch rooms, they told us they were sold out but they could have someone come up and clean the bathroom for us. With all the ants that were up there I knew cleaning wasn't going to do a bit of good. I couldn't believe they actually expected us to stay in the room considering the amount of ants that were in there. We asked if we could get a room at the Hilton Garden Inn for the night but they told us they were sold out too and that wasn't a possibility. Since they didn't offer to find us a room somewhere else, we took it upon ourselves to get a room at the Hampton a few mins away. They didn't offer to pay for our room at the Hampton or give us any type of compensation for the ants or having to go through the trouble of having to pack up all our stuff and move to a different hotel. They did say we wouldn't have to pay for our night stay there but why would we since we didn't stay there anyway because of the ant invasion in our room. Well they neglected to adjust our rate for that night and when we went to check out and reminded the lady at the desk about the ants she had the nerve to say we would have to talk to a manager about it because it was our word against there's. This should have been adjusted right away and there should have been notes in the reservation about the ants so we wouldn't have had to deal with this again at checkout. Besides these problems, the breakfast was good and the evening social was nice which is why I gave it two stars instead of one. My boyfriend and I both work in the hotel industry and know how important it is to make sure the guest is happy and the way they handled the ant situation in our room was inadequate and...
