We stayed on a Friday night in late December 2024.
Check-in was fine and nothing noteworthy. Parking was limited but not sure if you're allowed to park across the small street in the mall parking lot. They did have 4 electric vehicle charging spots. However the next morning I noticed they were all parked with non-electric vehicle cars. I casually mentioned it to the front desk staff and while the younger lady just shrugged it off, the older one said that one was hers and that she does that so if a guest actually needed it, she could move her car for them. She also mentioned that it's a small parking lot and it was completely full.
We stayed in room #512. 2 Queen Bed Suite. This was your typical Holiday Inn Express room with decor. The only issues with the room was the bathroom. The water pressure was fine but the fancy curved shower curtain rod was seriously drooping and this meant that the shower curtain kept sliding into the middle and the water would splash out onto the walls and floor. The shower had standard Holiday Inn Express shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Another issue was the door. Not sure if the door had water damage and swelled or the floor tile was rising but the door to the bathroom would not properly shut. You had to pull really hard and lift the door up. This was harder for the younger kids but also trying to be sneaky and go to the bathroom at night without waking everyone was almost impossible. The beds were of standard Holiday Inn Express quality.
The pool area was nice. It had a weird view of the back of another building. It was also not heated and VERY cold but my youngest insisted we go to the pool. We were there for maybe 30 mins. No one else joined us, I wonder why... haha. THere are 2 covered cabana like areas. It was weird but the pool was right outside the main atrium/hang out/breakfast area. So we had a number of people just wander by and stare at us for a bit. I guess it made a nice view for the inside people at breakfast time. You also have to ask the front desk for towels. There was a station for towels outside with a couple in but I don't remember it being under any overhang so if it was raining, I'd expect them to be damp at least.
The fitness center we didn't use this time but was pretty well stocked. It also had free weights. The only downside here was the standard public water fountain. I think we've been spoiled with nice water bottle filling fountains for awhile.
The ice machine was particular noteworthy (At least the one on our floor). It had a dispenser for ice and one for water! This certainly made up for the lack of a water bottle filler in the fitness center.
Breakfast was typical Holiday Inn Express breakfast. Everything worked and standard hot selection of eggs, sausage, omelets, biscuits and gravy. The cinnamon rolls and pancake maker as well.
Overall our stay was fine. The location was the reason we chose this hotel as it was near the Everglades National Park. Also there were 2 malls near by. You're in the Miami International Mall and just a couple blocks from what we thought to be the nicer mall,...
Read moreVery disappointed in my stay here. The first disappointment was that the pool was not available for use. So I had to load up my 5 kids and take them to a hotel down the street. Which was an experience in its own because it seemed like they did not want us there and ended up locking us out. Pretty upsetting when you pick a brand new hotel and the pool is out of commission. I could not get enough towels from the woman at the front desk. Obviously there were 6 of us, so I need 6 bath towels and Andrea did not want to give me more than 2 more so we were 1 towel short. I also paid for a suite so that I had enough space for everyone and Andrea just handed my daughter a thin blanket. No sheets or pillows. My shower was also non functioning. The next morning the man at the front desk was very nice and sent up more towels. And a complete bedding set for the couch bed. He also had maintenance come up and look at the shower. Unfortunately it was not fixable. He did offer me to move to a different room, but having to move all my kids was not an option. So, we just went to my cousins room a few doors down to shower. The last night we were there there was a roach in my cousins and room that maintenance had to kill. Just a very disappointing stay all in all. When we left we spoke to a manager, named Claudia. She offered to give me 10000 points on my member account and stated that I was going to be refunded for one night, but that never happened either. So, I will not be staying at any Holiday Inn Express locations...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Doral while waiting for our international adoption to complete. Due to a major delay we needed to add an additional week to our stay and the hotel was very accommodating. All of the staff are very kind and professional. Our room was clean and comfortable. We loved having the amazing breakfast buffet since we were staying for such and extended amount of time. The food was AMAZING! They also have a coin-operated washing machine and dyer which we needed to use twice during our stay - it was perfect! We also appreciated being located directly next to the Miami International Mall where we could easily walk to it and spend some time walking around the mall. There are also a few restaurants and a Dollar Store within walking distance of the hotel which was so appreciated since we did not have a rental car. I highly recommend the Holiday Inn and Suites Express - Doral. Their Wi-Fi worked perfectly the entire time which was a necessity as my husband worked remotely during the entirety of our trip. We need to return to Miami next month to complete our adoption process and we hope to stay at this hotel again! It is only about a 20 minute Uber ride...
