We had a very nice lunch on a Saturday, thanks both to good food and a very attentive waitress.
The restaurant is tucked in a cul-de-sac at the southwest corner of its shopping center. Though the address is on Flagler the closest street is actually SW 108th Avenue. If you zoom in enough Google Maps puts the pin exactly on top of the restaurant itself (but I didn't do so until after we returned home, so naturally we drove around the block until we found it).
We drove down to Sabores Chilenos to order the Pastel de Choclo, as the last Chilean restaurant in Broward County is now closed. It was served on a plate rather than in a casserole, but included the usual goodies under the corn "crust": chicken, boiled egg, black olive and something that may have been chorizo (sausage).
With a little urging from our waitress we chose a cool and refreshing Chilean desert, Mote Con Huesillos. This consisted of a glass of syrupy peach juice with a dried peach and barley grains. Having no experience with this desert, we drank some of the juice with a straw, eating the peach and barley grains with a spoon.
We were pleasantly surprised to find several non-Chilean kids menu choices for my totally unadventurous 9-year-old son. His hot dog was served in a nice long roll, which was really better than a conventional hot dog bun. But even this was almost different enough to trigger his "I won't eat that" response and was a little bit too hard for his braces, so I cut the bun and hot dog into slices for him and he was fine.

Read moreWe drive 4hrs always to eat at restaurants but no more. The waiters are not very friendly at first, no welcoming no communication with them until they are ready to take your order. Its always the same and I always gave them a chance. It's too much for them, to clean, tables, to cash out, and to serve. I know this is a family restaurant but let's make it better. The waiters are always in a rush, they come back to check to see if we anything else. What got me upset, I asked twice to not to add an item to my food and still came with. Then when I asked for something else, it was cold, the bread felt like reheated and not cooked all the way. When I go to eat out to a restaurant and pay high money I expect that every thing be excellent. But no more, I can't. Lastly, my family is from Chile so I consider myself as well, let's make your Chilean customer...
Read moreWe visited Sabores Chilenos as a group of 7 while traveling from out of state, and every single one of us left absolutely thrilled with the experience. From start to finish, the food was simply outstanding—every dish we tried was full of flavor and authentically prepared.
Our server, Ines, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. She treated us like family, anticipating our needs before we even asked and adding such warmth to our evening. Her genuine hospitality made the meal even more memorable.
To top it off, the price was far less than what we expected to pay for the quality and portions we received. It felt like we had discovered a hidden gem.
If we lived closer, this would be a regular spot for us without a doubt. We are so happy we found this place—five stars...
