Before I found dominoes of sylva, well I was broken. My wife had just left me and taken my two kids away. It’s not that either of us did anything specific, our personalities were just too different. We thought having kids would help but it just made the arguments worse. Finally after 3 years of fighting on and off about the little things we called it quits. My wife moved to Tennessee to be closer to her parents, I moved here to Sylva. No real reason...I just kinda felt drawn here I guess. The first few weeks were fantastic! I went to the blue ridge parkway and I hiked some trails, but after about two weeks I began to feel empty again. I missed my kids. The thing about sylva, as I’m sure you already know, is that there is not much to really do. So after the second week of hiking trails and walking around the stores downtown I decided that I’d take a night to have A few drinks. I bought myself a fifth of whiskey and went wild. I blacked out that night and woke up in my apartment complex’s parking lot in my socks and underwear. It was mortifying...but for that bread period of time I was numb from the pain. The next few weeks were the same. Everyday I’d wake up and drink until I felt nothing...it wasn’t healthy but it was better than the loneliness that came with being a devorced man who’s all alone in sylva. One morning maybe a week into this strange alcoholic bender, maybe two I got a call from my wife, well it was the first call I had actually been sober enough to notice. She told me she was gonna keep the kids full time and that visitation would be very limited if I would get any at all. That night I was on the brink. I was wasted, depressed, and alone... I decided on pizza I felt like it’d be a good meal to go out on. So I ordered a dominoes large 3 topping pizza for 12.99 along with a 20 oz. bottle of coke so it would meet the delivery charge requirements. I thought the pizza wouldn’t arrive in time and that hey maybe the pizza guy’d find me. But they found my house and delivered my pizza with incredible efficiency. I only waited 27 minutes and thank the good lord above that I did. When I opened the door I was greeted by a very friendly and kind delivery driver. He asked how I was and told me to have a great night ... he even called me bro. It’s like I had finally made another connection in this world. When I went inside to eat I still had no real hope. However when I took that first bite I knew...I knew I had something to live for again. The pizza which was still piping hot as if it had just come out of the oven was an amazing mix of flavor and texture. The meat was of the highest quality, and the fruit so juicy. It was the greatest meal I have ever eaten. It turned my life around. The very next day I applied for jobs and began working again. I feel like my life is on track for the first time in so long. My kids are even coming to visit this weekend, and you can bet your butt we are...
Read moreThe experience is mostly about how you feel you're treated as a customer. Our orders have been wrong, before, and as vegans, we try to forgive that, but this was a nightmare. I called roughly at 930 to order my boyfriend a surprise pizza. I was told it'd be 30 mins, and the guy on the phone 5/3/15, rushed through and didn't repeat my order back to me, but I just kind of hoped it was written correctly. I told them extremely detailed directions, which may have been why he was more careless throughout the rest of the order, but our place is a tad complex to find. Over an hour later, I get a call saying no one answered, even though I had just spoken to my bf and knew he was home the entire time. I tried to find out where they must have gone instead of where we live, but they hung up. They canceled my order without asking. I called back to find out if I'd be charged a delivery fee or anything, and the same guy answered and hung up on me the first time, the second time telling me it'd be returned to my card 7-10 business days. 2 weeks for one pizza order? I asked again whether my card would be charged bc he had not answered the question I asked, and he said look for it in 3-7 days, and I was in the middle of asking what the difference was from what he said before when he said, of course ma'am, goodbye, very kindly as if I'd just thanked him, and hung up on me...MID SENTENCE??? I work in customer care and have for a few years, and that was so horrible, the feeling of being so unimportant to them. They've lost all future business from me. Not that it's a big loss for them, but still... I haven't treated a customer/guest that way, and I find it completely horrid to feel that way! I wanted to call back and say I found it completely rude of the young man who answered to act that way, but, it's a college town, it's probably a part-time job that kid doesn't want to keep forever, plus if he's the one to answer the phone, what's he going to do? Hang up, I'm sure. But I'm 23. So it's not like I'm a cranky old fart whining about generational differences. I really would've loved to keep trying...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. I ordered my pizza over the phone and couldn’t have been more clear on my building and apartment number. Yet, after over an hour, my driver arrives just to drive away and never knock on my door. When I called to ask what the problem was, every excuse was horribly made. First they said they didn’t have my apartment number (which I gave over the phone more than once, so the person who took my order should have taken the responsibility to annotate that). They then said that they tried to call me to confirm my address, but the number they called said that they never ordered pizza. Well, I’ve had the same phone number for almost 6 years and not only is it linked to my profile, but seriously what other number could they have possibly called???
To make matters worse, I decided to call up again to speak with a manager about the negligence and inconvenience of this situation. Almost the entire time, she made it obvious that she could not care less about anything I was saying. All I could get out of her for the first half of the conversation was “I wasn't there that night so…” or “I wasn’t the one that took your order so…” She offered more excuses that didn’t add up to anything other than negligent staff. Finally she tossed a free credit at me which should’ve been offered long before we got to the point in our conversation. I wanted clarity on the free credit with details such as how that would show up for delivery fees, and I can’t even guarantee the information she gave me was genuine or accurate as she very obviously just wanted to get off the phone with me. I asked for her name to report to higher management because I was extremely unsatisfied with her attitude the entire phone call despite my attempts to settle this situation in a calm manner. She says that she doesn’t give her name to customers. Well that’s fine… but when I use that free credit I hope...
