Kyoto Ka on Central Avenue is hands down one of the best sushi experiences you’ll find in Toledo. What sets them apart is their use of Grade A sushi, which refers to the highest quality, freshest fish available. For those who may not be familiar, “Grade A” means the fish is handled with the utmost care from catch to plate, ensuring vibrant flavor, perfect texture, and absolute freshness. It’s the gold standard—and once you’ve had it, you’ll immediately notice the difference from what many other local spots may serve.
I started with a warm bowl of vegetable miso soup, which was comforting and perfectly balanced. Then came the highlight: the Rainbow Roll. This roll was truly a journey of flavors, beginning with the delicacy of sea bass and white tuna, gradually building in richness, and finishing with the bold, full-flavored crescendo of salmon and red tuna. Each bite was clean, fresh, and perfectly composed—exactly what you’d expect from true Grade A sushi.
On top of the incredible food, the atmosphere at Kyoto Ka is spot-on. The restaurant feels calm and welcoming, with a modern vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. The acoustics are good so you don't hear everyone's conversations or clinking and clanking of dishes. It’s also immaculately clean—so much so that even the air feels fresh the moment you walk in. That kind of attention to detail in both the environment and the food really...
Read moreI usually love going to kyoto ka because their sushi is so good, but tonight the service was terrible. Our server, Stephen, didn't check on our table for 45 mins and we waited for over an hour and a half to get our sushi. When i asked him how much longer for our food he said he didn't know. I then told him that we had put our order in almost an hour ago and I asked if he could check on our order. He proceeded with "I can try". 15 mins later our sushi comes out and it is great but we ate it within 5 mins because of how starving we were. Stephen never apologized for the wait or had warned us that the kitchen was backed up. When we got the check, I was expecting to be given a discount or something to accommodate our long wait but there was nothing. I was very disappointed because i had never experienced this type of service in my life & it disappointed me because I am a server...
Read moreFirst, when we walked into restaurant lady at the front, walked us to our table, put the menus on the table and just walked away from us. Not even saying anything to us. No eggrolls or spring rolls on the menu. No Tito’s. Soup tasted like dish water would taste. Fried rice was white rice with some chunks of carrots and peas thrown into it. Beef teriyaki - beef was well done the other half was raw and with vegetables which was four pieces of broccoli and a whole plate of almost raw onions. The hot shrimp tempura roll was served with cold rice. Very expensive and definitely will never go back. They also got our checks wrong two different times. Also they do not have the option to pay with “tap and pay”. Never should had ventured away from Sakura. Waitress was...
