Here’s the summary up front. David Fairclough Fine Jewelers is without a doubt the best jewelry store I have ever stepped foot in. The people are kind and genuine and want to make your jewelry buying experience amazing. You can tell they have joy in their work and love for their customers. Buying a piece for a special occasion should feel exciting and not like a chore, and David Fairclough delivers that experience.
Here’s the more detailed story:
Something to know about me is that I am OBSESSED customer service experience. I sit on my company's service excellence committee and have learned how important it is to deliver good service at every part of the experience for a customer. As such, I am VERY critical of customer service shortcomings. I'm happy to report that David Fairclough has no shortcomings.
Being a customer at David Fairclough is unlike being a customer at any other jewelry store I've experienced. From the moment you walk in, you can tell each employee is genuinely happy to be there and help customers. Each individual employee I spoke with showed interest in me as a person and wanted to see how they could best help me with my wants. Even being happy to show me all the many items I asked to look at.
What you won't get here is a push for something you don't want. If it's not perfect for you, they won't try to talk you into it. And they'll keep working with you until that perfect piece is found. It's clear your joyful satisfaction is everything to them.
I want to shout out a few individuals I spoke with. First, Ryan. Ryan is kind and easy to talk with, and has a passion for delivering a great customer experience. He's also quick with great suggestions. Finding what I wanted was easier than putting in a fast food order. He helped me find the perfect chain that I've been looking for. I put my great-great-grandfather’s handcrafted steel ring on it because it’s far too big for my fingers.
Second, Krista. Krista runs the show there, but you won't get stuffy, bossy energy from her. She walks the floor, interacts kindly with customers, and exemplifies what it means to lead by example. I would have never known who the manager was if I hadn't been told it was Krista. Each employee has confidence, respect, and interacts with each other like they are family. This kind of culture is hard to achieve, and it shows that Krista has put in many hours of effort into growing and developing each member of her staff.
The first time I stopped by, I was just looking. I was so impressed with how genuine the staff was that I made it a point to call after I left to tell Krista how great she runs the place. Krista then spent several minutes on the phone with me talking about the history of the store and how her Grandfather built it from the ground up. I can tell that Mr. Fairclough put more than just blood, sweat, and tears into the establishment. He put heart and soul into his employees, and that culture permeates the air there.
The second time I stopped by, I had my wife and 3 kids with me. Krista kindly came over to us and offered to take the kids to a table where she had set out coloring pages, crayons, and snacks. Krista then stayed with them, squatting to their level and interacting with my kids perfectly, while my wife and I continued talking with Ryan about the items we were interested in. When my youngest needed to be breastfed, Krista kindly offered my wife her own personal office to feed in private. And THEN after my son finished coloring, they took his coloring page and hung it up! Even if they did this with everyone, it shows a respect and care for even the little ones who aren't going to buy a thing. They know what's most important to their customers and make it their priority, too.
I’m so impressed with how the David Fairclough crew treated me and my family. The location is more than an hour away from home, but they will be the only place I go to for all my family's jewelry purchases going forward. Buying a special piece to commemorate a special event should be just as special, and at David...
Read moreI first visited David Fairclough a couple of months ago because I was interested in purchasing a Rolex watch. Obviously those are hard to get right now but Margie, the sales consultant, spent time talking with me and showing me a display watch of exactly what I wanted. Hopefully someday I’ll have the opportunity to purchase it. I recently went back to find something for my wife and Margie again helped me to find a beautiful bracelet to surprise my wife with. My wife liked it, but didn’t love it. That’s on me. We went back and Margie again helped my wife, this time find a pair of diamond earrings that she loves. All three times have been an enjoyable experience . Margie and the rest of the staff have always been very professional and patient with us as we have looked at their inventory and tried to determine what we like and wanted to purchase. Margie is very knowledgeable, kind, friendly and professional. I look forward to doing more business with her in the future and would highly recommend if you’re in the market for jewelry that you visit her at David Fairclough Fine Jewelers.
Update as of December 2, 2023: I have purchased a Submariner and had several pieces of jewelry repaired and cleaned at David Fairclough, since my last post. They always do exceptional work at fair prices. All of the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They are always kind to take time to show me items, even if I’m just curious, not necessarily looking to buy. I cannot say enough good things about Margie and all of the staff that have helped me. I look forward to being a customer for a long time and would highly recommend anyone go to David Fairclough if you are in the market for...
Read moreLauri is AMAZING!!!
1st visit - I was SO NERVOUS to go shopping for rings and Lauri made it so laid back and relaxing that very quickly I was able to enjoy the moment. She was able to tell what I liked and find more that were similar until we found my dream ring! She was very discrete in showing my future husband the cost of things, and wrote everything down for him and emailed it to him. There was NOTHING pushy about our visit. She carefully explained the different aspects of diamonds, she also talked to me about basic ring care. We took our time and were able to find exactly what we were looking for.
2nd visit- Time to pick out his ring. again Lauri was outstanding. She explained all the different metals and helped us pick out the best fit for his work and hobby lifestyle. Again there was nothing pushy about our visit it didn't matter if we were looking at something in the $300 or $2000 range, she was more concerned about what worked for him.
Every time we go in we are treated with respect and honesty, we would recommend this business to anyone looking for quality work from kind people. If David is around (which is almost always) he will always smile and say hello. He knows your happiness is his best advertisement and he wants you to be proud of what you have picked out.
A very important factor for me was that they do as much work "in house" as they can. Unlike most places who send your valuables other places (often Mexico!) I feel a lot more comfortable knowing its...
