La Perla del Mar VIP — Restaurant in Tacoma

I’m just gonna get to the negatives and end it n a positive note. The statewide made mandate is not followed here. Our first impression was employees wearing it as they please, either as a mask or a chin hammock. We arrived around 12:05am and decided to sit at the bar. Take in to account that we had chips with salsa and bean dip. My wife ordered a cocktail with vodka, a lot ice, lemon and chunks of strawberries. That’s all she remembers. So you take that for what it’s worth. I had a 16oz Pacifico in a pretty cool looking glass. The bartender hands us a menu that’s not only in tiny print, and I wear glasses but the food description is in Spanish. Nothing against but I just thought it was a bit odd but no worries! The average price per plate is $30 and a appetizer will cost you $16. I thought that was a bit high for this area, but hey, no love lost. I couldn’t get internet connection while in the restaurant. I tried scanning the menu but my phone wouldn’t connect. I typically have service everywhere with Verizon as my phone provider. Hope you have a better experience. Not blaming Culichi, just my experience.

The positive is that the salsa was the best salsa I’ve ever had. It wasn’t watery. The interior is pretty freaking nice. Everything looks well thought out and of quality. It has that night club vibe.

I think that it’s important that consumers know that this is NOT your typical local Mexican food restaurant. Also, in MY opinion, the food is more “fun food” rather than typical “ family dinner”. Absolutely Heartbroken by Today’s Experience – I Will Never Return

I’ve been a loyal customer of this restaurant for years, bringing my family and friends here 2–3 times a month. I’ve always loved the Guzman sushi—they’ve been go-to favorites. While the service was never amazing, it was tolerable… until today.

Today was the last time I will ever step foot in this place. What happened was not just disappointing—it was deeply upsetting.

The waitress who greeted me was openly disrespectful toward both me and my son. She blatantly lied about our food not being ready—even though I could see it sitting right there. To make matters worse, DoorDash had already confirmed it was prepared. When I politely asked about it, instead of a simple explanation, I was met with attitude, dismissiveness, and a complete lack of basic decency.

She treated us like we were a burden, not paying customers. I left feeling ashamed, disrespected, and deeply hurt—and that’s not something anyone should experience when they’re just trying to enjoy a meal with their child.

No matter how good the food is, no meal is worth being treated like that. I will no longer support a business that allows such poor treatment of its guests. And I can no longer recommend this place to anyone I care about.

Came to eat here after my daughters soccer game and as soon as I walked in the lady who helped us was not nice. She asked if I’d like to sit anywhere special and I said yes the corner table witch sits 6. There were 4 of us so she said. NO. That’s for 6 people I asked do you expect a table of 6?!? She said no that’s still for 6, so she sat gave us a table next to it. Little did you know another one of my daughters teammates came in so we asked to sit together at the table of 6. We sat there and we had 2 waitres. She told the 2nd family who came in she would help them! Only them. So she did. She was so rude by not helping us if we needed something even if we were at the same table. She rather send the other waiter to help us because she didn’t want to help us herself! Her name is Maria!!! So I would rather ask for a different waiter if you get her. On the other hand. The other server named Wendy was so nice. She didn’t care the 2 tables merged and was helping us both families. If the other family wanted something she let Maria know or brought it herself. Wendy has really good customer service. Smiling all the time and greeting nicely. Overall the food was delicious. I would recommend this place but not Maria as a waiter if you want to have a good experience.
